The situation has returned to the spotlight because the conservatorship was recently extended, and because Kanye West’s presidential campaign announcement has brought the situation into contrast with his mental health history, as West was institutionalized over psychological issues in 2016.

How will we survive that? Aren’t y’all just absolutely exhausted, past your bones and into your very SOUL, at the thought of continuing to make and share and SEE memes about how the world is a garbage fire until it, you, or memes themselves finally are surrendered to the flames?

Will we still be here in 2027 like “2027 is the REAL shit year and the world is ending and we’re all going to die!” Will the “bad timeline” joke format still be plodding along its helpless way a decade from now? Will we still be beating ourselves like flagellant monks with the corpses of apocalypse related meme formats in 5 years? Is it not plausible that we could begin queuing now memes for 2021 and 2022 complaining about how the world is shitty and on fire? Isn’t the thought simply the most damning, hopeless thought your brain has ever conceived? Doesn’t every cell of your body recoil at the image?

"Contributing to society" should not mean working a miserable 9-5 (or worse) job every single day with minimul time off. It should mean making art, friendship, a sense of community, creativity, discovery, adventure etc. But instead we have been made to believe that whatever passions, aspirations, and desires we may have should be put on hold and we should instead work so the super rich can continue accumulating unfathomable amounts of money.

The best years of our lives are being stolen from us. Not all of us will be lucky enough to retire comfortably and healthily with time to pursure our interests.
