A form of punctuation which exists only on the internet. Cousin of the line break, the half-pause, the caesura. A conceptual split which can only be articulated in the form of posts and DMs. The post break / message break.

It's the impassible yet permeable rift between a tweet and its replies. The pause between an OP and the reblogs of the OP by the same voice.

The page cannot contain it because it cannot be on a page. It is an ephemeral break only legible to

the netizen.

And it has its own grammar! Like all grammar, these rules exist to be broadly followed, but can be broken to call stark attention to themselves for emphasis. Watch how completely wr

ong this feels, even more than the above. Terrifying! And yet it is a punctuation intuitively grasped by all participants.

And it always leaves the potential for continuation. An exhale which is somehow still an inhale, until finally someone says:

"This is the end of the post."

I think perhaps the only way in which queer people have achieved true parity with straight people is that queer romantasy is just as bad.
