The fact that Microsoft has tools that can scrape data from your personal documents is a level of privacy violation so amazingly grave that I have no words for it. There is no amount of assurances or privacy policies that can fix this. This is a line that's beyond the pale.

Millions of people use Microsoft Office to write sensitive documents, from government documents, documents involving confidential information, or just personal information. The fact that a private company has any access to this at all is something that we shouldn't take for granted. This should be an outrage, but our privacy has been steadily been eroded to "opt-outs" and "remind me later".

At least in this case, you can take practical measures. Uninstall Microsoft Office right now. Install Libreoffice, it has all the same functionalities and full compatibility without any of this bullshit.
