The way I didn't want to hate on a ship that much/not like ND-5 but the shippers/fans make it impossible with all the crap they do, especially the "ignoring all the women in the game that already exist" thing which to me makes them no better than the grifters whining about how there's "too many" women

i've been holding off playing Star Wars Outlaws for so long because i heard it was buggy on release and then i kept getting sidetracked by other game releases. i saw it on sale today and was debating whether or not to get the game version that came with the digital art book or not. i was scanning through a copy of the art book that had been uploaded online and recognized something. imagine my surprise when i stumbled across the name "Akiva".

don't feel bad if you have no idea what this is! Akiva is Temmin Wexley from the sequel trilogy's homeworld. Temmin is one of the resistance pilots in that movie trilogy. He is a cool guy, but i'm way more interested in his mom, Norra Wexley. Akiva just so happens to be the planet where Norra meets Rae Sloane, a grand admiral of the imperial remnant, for the first time in the Aftermath book trilogy. and if you know me, you know i'm a huge Rae Sloane fanboy.

i want to go explore this planet for myself now that it's real and characters' backstories like Temmin and Norra are made more real. since Norra was off fighting the imperial remnant all the time, she had left Temmin in the care of her sister and her sister's wife. and guess which characters they put in the game! Temmin, Norra's sister Esmelle, and Esmelle's wife, Shirene are all characters you can meet in Outlaws.

Oh boy you're in for a huge (but pleasant) surprise if you decide to play lol. Which I do recommend especially if you can get it at a good sales price! They fixed a lot of things that people had (genuine, not "woman ugly game woke") issues with like the forced stealth sections, and it's always had a really nice selection of accessibility and difficulty options including disabling certain minigame elements that might be frustrating for some players. Also Sabacc is absolutely addicting and you can play against Lando!

But yes Akiva is fantastic, very rainy but beautiful, and Temmin is actually one of the nine "expert" characters you can do a big side quest for to unlock different abilities and perks (there's one from him in particular that's incredibly useful for taking down more powerful enemies). It's probably my favorite at least visually!

Me when A Pirate's Fortune first came out: It was pretty good! Disappointed that they didn't get into certain stuff more but I had fun

Me now after thinking about it more and more: Why didn't they explore some of Hondo's lesser known lore and how it's very similar to Kay's? Why didn't we get into how being abandoned and forced to look out for themselves from a very young age affected them in a way that added to Hondo without overshadowing Kay (and in fact adding to her as well)? Why did they instead make Kay stupid and more naive than she even was at the beginning of the main story just to make ND-5 look better? Why are people mad at Kay for "being mean" to their poor droid husband when they should be mad at the writers for sabotaging her for his sake? Why did they do Kay so bad when the hatedom (and even fandom) already treats her like crap?

Since Outlaws let me down with the potential for some real bonding with Kay I hope the Smugglers Run update gives us even just one wholesome moment with Hondo and Grogu...I want them to be equally delighted by each other while Din is just like 😐
