Remember how amazed Hondo was when he watched Katooni build her lightsaber?
Imagine him watching Ezra build his and being uncharacteristically silent.

Chapter 35 of Grand Theft Holo is up on ao3!
An ending, in a way.
(Just a short epilogue left 🥹)
Grand Theft Holo by TestingForGravity:
Six former Jedi. One impossible heist. There's nobody else in the rebellion Petro would choose for a job this important. But does his crew still trust each other enough to pull it off?
I want a rebels/clone wars fic where Hondo finds an alive Katooni after the jedi purge and takes her in :)
In which the empire slowly gives jobs to hondo’s crew or just takes his business or cracks down on imprisoning for that Less than legal business.
So when Hondo is crewless and finds Katooni he easily, and selfishly, accepts her under his wing.
The fic is about Katooni coming to peace with the death of the Jedi order and never seeing her family (other Jedi) again. Learning to love herself and be loved by those other than Jedi.
Hondo learns to care for not just himself while taking care of katooni only for that all to be ripped away by an inquisitor who kills Katooni and chops off Hondo’s braids.
After fifteen years he’s grown out a beard and grows fond of Ezra but refuses to care for anyone again. So his ark comes full circle and he’s still the same hondo in rebels but I get my found family fic
"And if you'd never come for me, I might've drowned in the melancholy. I swore my loyalty to me, myself, and I. Right before you lit my sky."
Also this song is sooooo We Were Just Kids Katooni coded. I mean...
"The people attached to these things had given her a family to belong to. And with her family by her side, Katooni would never have to work alone again." -- We Were Just Kids, chapter 26
I rest my case 😌
If we get a S2 of SkelCrew, I hope Katooni shows up. Or, she could show up in Mando and Grogu.
I suggest Logan Browning to play her.
Officially, she's "believed to have died in Anakin's attack on the Temple," but Grogu and Reva both survived, so she could've too. And gone on to become a pirate…only to presumably die some time before "Smuggler's Run," since Hondo's new ship is named after her…
Also, Gungi's confirmed to have survived.
Side note: While rewatching this arc, I kept getting ads for some doctor-browsing app that mentioned an eye doctor named Barbossa, and the image of Hector checking your eyes is very funny.

Katooni - Athena
wisdom - warfare - artisans
A snapshot of their lives, pre order 66. They were just kids.
Katooni couldn’t see an end to the war in sight. She wished they could all have a normal padawan experience, but normal no longer existed. These days it was do or die and Katooni had the eerie feeling, as she looked at the faces of her five closest friends, that not all of them would survive. But she wanted them too. And maybe they all could in Petro’s idea of the future. “And then,” she said, picking up the story. “I meet you all here at the temple with Master Plo. We deliver exciting news: with your capture of Grievous and our capture of Dooku, the war has come to an end. The Masters take Grievous, well... what’s left of him,” she said, looking pointedly at Zatt. “To prison. And the six of us come to this very spot to celebrate and swap stories.” Her friends clapped. Petro grinned at her. “We’re all remembered as the padawans that ended the Clone Wars,” he said. Silence settled as the end of the story hung in the air, and Katooni knew they were all returning to reality. Byph’s worried expression was back, and even Ganodi looked restless, pulling at blades of grass. Katooni knew, deep down, that worrying was pointless. Time would continue as it was determined to do. She just had to hope the six of them would be allowed to continue with it. “Hey,” she said, desperate to hold on to the optimism that was fading fast. “Let’s do it.” “Do what?” Gungi asked. Katooni smiled slightly. “Come back here,” she said. “When the war ends, we’ll all come back to this spot to celebrate. Deal?” She knew the unspoken would not go unnoticed. There was a good chance they wouldn’t all be sitting here, when the time came. But talks of the future are often exempt from the crushing weight of reality, especially those shared between children in war. And fantasizing about a life for all of them safe from this uncertainty was healthier for the mind than the alternative. They all nodded. “I’m in,” Petro said. “And I bet I’ll beat you all here.” With something as normal as a Petro challenge to cling to, the group returned to its usual dynamic, the energy from earlier resuming as if nothing had happened. Byph and Gungi reverted back to their argument about the most effective lightsaber grip, and Ganodi turned her attention back to the sky. But as Zatt punched Petro in the shoulder once again, Katooni caught the human boy’s gaze. He held it for a second, eyes softening. In an instant, Katooni knew even Petro shared her worries. But he had hope. Hope in the future. Hope in the Jedi. Hope that the war would end. Maybe hope could be enough for Katooni as well.
--We Were Just Kids, Chapter 1
I'm not a huge fan of prologues, but I still really love that I started this fic off with a chapter of the crew as younglings pre order 66. The kids fantasizing about their lives as padawans and worrying about the clone wars stings. If only they knew what was coming.
Spindrift
In celebration of the 1 year anniversary of We Were Just Kids, I decided to give the youngling crew a break.
Summary:
Everyone deserves a beach vacation. Even a group of rebel Jedi.
