Well it’s here

Our world has been turned upside down. How could we ever predicted such a turn of events in the world.

But now it is our turn, we need to listen, act and above all be kind to each other.

The corona virus is here to teach us all a lesson. Collectively and individually.

Mother Nature is wielding her sword and we are going to see the brunt of her fury soon.

This surpasses any politics, religion, spirituality or economics this is science. Mother Nature is striking at the core of human existence. We need to stop and think about our actions. Our impacts and our consequences.

This is Year seven science “for every action there is a reaction”

And it’s all coming home to roost.

Now the voice of doom has spoken I will leave you with this thought

“This too shall pass”

We will come through this and we will return to touching, hugging kissing and loving.

So be grateful for life, for your loved ones, for the food we eat, the water so easily accessible.

The day is here

The sunset has set for the last time on this little place I once called home.

I have opened your doors for the last time, I have sat in your lounge for the last time, I have had my last bath and my last nights sleep under your roof .

This chapter of my life is closing , hopefully a new chapter will be coming and although the adventure will continue, the memory of you will always remain.

I will miss the security and pride of calling you my own.

To the ones I’ve lost here...

To my bestie taken too early. We had some fantastic times and I only wish you could have stayed longer.

The friends I’ve loved and lost here...

So many wonderful friendships forged here. The early mornings coffees, the late night calls, the many who’ve slept in my bed, on my lounge or on my floor.

The late night music, the pres before heading out, the makeup sessions and the copious amount of wine drunk.

The games of Cards against Humanity, the games of Truth Dare and torture

The late night visits from my nearest and dearest, the shenanigans we got up to.

We’ve had some great times and the worst of times. I met the love of my life here and although it hasn’t worked out how I’d planned I haven’t regretted a single moment. (Except maybe the reason I had to sell) but even then there is a lesson to be learnt in it all.

Some of life milestone birthdays celebrated .

Watching my little girl graduate from sweet sixteen to twenty One. From sleepovers to firepit parties, fun and friends alike.

My son from his first teenage birthday to his Eighteenth, and a gatho or two in between.

And finally my filthy fifty (can’t say I was particularly happy about this one)

Christmas time....

I will absolutely miss Christmas’ in this house.

The only time my ocd rears it’s ugly head, and my children can attest to the various colour themes, matching paper, mountains of decorations and lights. The last minute late night wrapping sessions, the 4am bedtime... only to be up 2hrs later to unwrap it all again. Oh the madness!!

Christmas stocking hung (although one year I forgot and my girlfriend and I raised the pantry .... oh the looks on their faces when they opened them. The enduring laughter and ‘omg mum your nuts’ ... well at least in made for fun times and great memories.

But these were the best of times, chocolate and ham crossaints for breakfast. Anything goes Christmas Day.

My favourite thing about Christmas was watching my daughter open her presents and her excitement at every single one.... with exclamation of ‘it’s just what I always wanted’. Her delight and gratitude for even the smallest of gifts is a joy to watch. My son however was much more subdued in his excitement but always grateful for anything.

My culinary cook up’s in my little kitchen

A decade of culinary successes and abominable failures, but the memories will always bring smiles.

The kitchen is the hub of every house it’s where we meet, it’s where we eat , it’s where we talk, it’s where we walk

It’s where we go when we need cheering up, taking solace in its creations.

It’s where we can create and cultivate a the love for food and family

Good food nourishes the body

Great memories nourish the soul

Although it’s taken me some years to love the garden

I have come to find some great solace and grounding in getting my hands into the earth and watching plants bloom and grow.

The excitement and satisfaction when something flourishes and flowers has given me a sense of accomplishment.

A need to nourish is quenched

This home is the sum of all the memories he has known

But the time has come and we must move on.

We have had graduations, confirmations, camping trips and adventures.

Football games, summer cricket, beach volleyball and Handball champions. Skateboard ramps constructed and bike jumps made, competition thrown down to anyone who’s game. Kick to kick in the street, sometimes on his own.

He grew up, ( I grew out) and he grew into his feet.
