What's your favourite place in the world?

This is a very difficult question for me. I don't, generally, feel attachment to place. This is in part because I moved around a lot, and in part because I've always disconnected from physicality (for both gender and other reasons).

There are some places I love: the oval near where we lived in Canberra on a summer afternoon; the triangle park in New York City where I would sit for lunch sometimes a decade ago; the beach by where I lived in Hobart on a chilli winter night; Swanston Street in Melbourne by the state library steps on a busy Saturday; the bench in Denver that memorializes my friend, though I've never visited it; any unoccupied section of Ninety Mile Beach; under the yellow desk in the study, age five; online, where the computer is an extension of myself, undifferentiated because I'm so close to the tool; space, as observed.

None of these, though, could I truly describe as a favorite. It's not even the place-ness that makes those places that are in fact places significant to me. As ever, it's the connections that matter, not the places themselves. The vertices, not the nodes.
