Bleu de Chanel going from Timotheé Chalamet to Jacob Elordi… Chalamet is not as popular as he used to be rn ig but I feel like it’s a downgrade… like
I’m the kind of person who’s too snobby to buy my perfume from fashion houses who does it all, like I’m only into niche perfumeries whose only specialty is fragrance but Chalamet’s Bleu de Chanel campaign had me paying Chanel money for a perfume as a gift to my then-boyfriend. (And we both liked the scent so worth it ig?)
I don’t fall for marketing very often and I am actively biased against Chanel but the whole aesthetic really spoke to me.
And even aside from Chalamet vs. Elordi rizz gap the whole campaign is just. Less chic.
I really feel like the whole thing is less creative and more… run of the mill perfume ad.

Chalamet really delivered the image evoked by the scent. And the campaign creative direction was carefully curated to project that vibe. This new campaign is just like getting a popular male actor, the heartthrob de jour, and making the formulaic TV commercials and posters that looks like every perfume ad everrrr…
Maybe it was Chalamet who wasn’t interested in extending the contract but even then, Chanel couldn’t find a more fitting replacement??? They couldn’t create an equally appealing campaign with all the Chanel resources?
Idk why am I so worked up about some fancy perfume marketing, but I am. Aaaahhh
