You can tell a lot about people from the books they sleep with.

I really think it's weird that there's a horror film series where the notorious charlatans Ed and Lorraine Warren are...the heroes. It feels very much like the crypto-conservative pre-Trump kind of "conservative heartland values are good, let's have some 1950s-coded nostalgia" media because they talked a big Christian game. But they were scam artists. Famously. Even at the time.

A short story, done right, is a ferocious creature: razor-toothed and bristling and deceptively small for all its power. Think wolverine. Think barracuda.
