Pure trauma
Posting this terrible found family I drew before The Vampire Lestat right after ep6 tvl has shaken me to the core
what gets you is not that louis and lestat love each other and still love each other though they hate each other because they cannot live without each other, we knew that. what gets you is that they are friends. it takes us two seasons of toxic gothic "i was under his spell" sort of romance to admit that, beside all that, they just like each other. they feel easy and at home in each other's company. they're giggling and cracking each other up. making easy conversation. they're bantering and bickering like an old married couple, because they ARE, and they DO know each other best of anyone. they DO trust each other above all else. they know which buttons to push to drive each other up the wall, and they know when they need to drop the argument and hold the other close. way beyond words, they know each other. their souls are scissoring. nobody talk to me

Lestat really missed the opportunity of being a Bostonian. everyone is pretentious but also modest, minds their own business but mostly kind. like he could have been a miserable fuck at the bar and every old man wouldâve hit a âi hate my life too kid,â as Lestat opens up a âholy fahk thatâs whatâs wrong? i just thought you were french my badâ and so much more. of course i think he should live in Boston late 80s to the 2010s (MAYBE 2020s but only bc everyone would be like he works nights he must be a doctor or sumthin, thatâs why he stays looking young, he gets the good stuff, like Matt Damon, that guy has no wrinkles, just like Lestat)

i think one thing that gets lost a lot of the time is that IWTV isnât about Claudia
itâs about Claudiaâs parentsâ grief
when we see her, we only see her through this lens of guilt and loss. it doesnât change that louis and lestat werenât good parents, but their regrets frame the way they talk about their parenting.
the main disconnect between louis and lestat at the end of the book (and even in the show) is that louis blames both lestat and himself for claudiaâs death, meanwhile lestat only blames himself. this inequity leads to both of them letting their own self-hatred grow out of control, without the outlet of each other.
louis wants lestat to argue and not willingly accept the blame they both know heâs deserving of.
lestat wants louis to stop beating himself up for something lestat would never blame him for.
this grief and pain is the core of the story, and i think this season is finally getting to that

see louis would give claudia an eating disorder simply because heâs engaging in unhealthy dietary habits. lestat would give claudia an eating disorder by commenting on how she looks in a top sheâs wearing.
