In the late 1990s, when I was still reading record reviews, I stumbled upon a write-up on a re-release of the Flying Burrito Brothers' "Gilded Palace of Sin". I can't remember what the article said but I immediately fell in love with the band name. And once I got my hands on the record, the music too, of course. So please any band: choose your name carefully!

John Townes Van Zandt was born March 7th, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas.

"If you don't like the sound of the pedal-steel, there's probably something wrong with you." (J.T. Earle) It had to be said.

I love this song so much that I even named my blog after it: atmywindow.de.

Vor kurzem hatte ich das großer Vergnügen die wunderbare Sängerin Barbara Dane zu treffen und heute Abend läuft meine Sendung über sie bei SWR2. Neben spannenden Geschichten aus ihrem ereignisreichen Leben, gibt es viele musikalische Knaller. Einschalten lohn sich, versprochen!

One of my favourite albums this year came from the wonderful Maggie Björklund. It's called "Shaken" and this is the track "Missing at sea".
