Escaramuza, an all-female sport within charrerĂa—the Mexican equivalent of rodeo—combines strength with beauty.
M&TC:
Our friend Mariel Cruz gifted us with this beautiful piece in @vogue on the elegant artistry and fierce sport of Escaramuza.Â
LA’s car culture has shaped the city and manifested itself in many ways, helping the youth and various subcultures self-express through their vehicles of choice. Most notably of all, in SoCal’s lowrider scene. Birthed out of South Central and East Los Angeles, where cruising culture grew rapidly and a car’s speed was irrelevant, it was all about the effect of rolling bajito y suavecito (low and slow). ”

Pare de Sufrir—or "end your suffering"—offers 70 brands of mezcal from producers around Mexico, including a special variety made with chicken breast.

the tequila cloud by lapiz has been on show in berlin, and syncs with local weather patterns to smugly precipitate tequila every time it rains in germany.
M&TC:Â
It’s been cloudy with a chance of Tequila in Berlin! Did you know Germany is Mexico’s second biggest export market for tequila? Last month Mexico’s Tourism Board premiered an exhibit at a Berlin gallery to showcase the Tequila Cloud. We’re hoping the cloud will make its way to NYC next!

M&TC: MCM Eduardo Garcia owner & chef of Máximo Bistrot
“We started Máximo Bistrot in 2011 with four employees. The idea was to keep things small. But then I noticed, after a while, that employees were building homes. A lot of them were Mexicans who had migrated to the United States and then sent money back home to construct houses. With the wages we paid, they could stay in Mexico and earn enough to have a good life. So we decided finally it was a good idea to grow the business and employ as many people as possible, because in Mexico a lot of people’s pockets get bigger and bigger, but never the little guy.
We now have three restaurants in the city, Máximo Bistrot, Lalo! and Havre 77. Over all, the cuisine is French-Mexican. We also have 130 employees with six partnerships in Mexico, two in London and one in Dubai.”
M&TC: Happy Birthday to Mexican architect Luis Barragán

We know you’ve heard of Tijuana, a city that, up until recently, hasn’t needed an introduction—or, maybe we should say, a reintroduction. Sitting directly on the United States–Mexico border, Tijuana developed as a bawdy “Las Vegas South” reputation for American tourists, becoming the country’s ca...
“...a cultural haven bursting with Mexico-centric food, drinks, art, and design.”
Object MX’s Veronica Hernandez sums it up best, explaining, “Art and food have become a way for us in Tijuana to figure out our relationship with the border. It opens a dialogue and permits us, as Mexicans, to define who we are through our experiences.”
