Video games kinda suck at designing female heroes

In 2002, the photographer Howard Schatz published a photo collection called "Athlete" featuring pictures of, well, various top athletes from every sport and genre. These are some of the women he photographed, and the thing I want you to do in your head is compare the variety of humans that you're seeing here to the variety of humans you see in the cast list of your favourite video games.

These women are all in peak human condition for their fields - if you wanted to design a character who is tough and strong, these are the kinds of bodies you should look to for reference on what that looks like. You tell me how many video games or comics or movies or anime create their characters with even this limited variety in shape and size.

There's a moment in episode 5 when Shrike and Beebs are entering the L.A.W HQ.

Shrike forgets that Punti's species got killed.

And then Beebs reminds him of what happened. And I know this could be explained by him being stressed out at the moment but his reaction to Beebs' correction makes me think different.

His expressions imply that he still can't recall what happened. He goes from looking confused to looking confused still. And the tone in which he answers is also uncertain, like he says it not because he actually remembers but because he doesn't want to worry Beebs. And keep in mind that in this moment he's actually paying attention and not looking around.

This on its own might not be enough of a proof however the same thing happened in ep 2! In this one when he's asked by Punti about his crystal.

He wonders about it for a moment before he settles for an answers that he himself doesn't seem sure about.

It's as if he racks his brain for a memory of getting it and finds nothing so he just assumes that he must have had it since forever (and I'm not necessarily saying that he hadn't but I think it's weird that it's something that he's not really sure about).

After noticing this pattern I was reminded of one particular ask that Neato has once answered on her blog.

I didn't think much of it at first but now It makes me think that Shrike's memory problems might be more serious and important than it might seem.

In light of this I can't help but wonder what the "terrible memory problems" actually stem from. Does Shrike have a mental disorder or did he have a past physical injury that caused them? (Maybe he doesn't actually have any and I'm just overthinking it).
