I think Jax takes his complex feelings on his mother out on Gangle, but tries to justify it to himself through delusions that it's not ACTUALLY abuse, even though it is. Most abusers don't ever think of themselves as abusers, and tend to make up a reality in which their abuse is either not that big a deal or it's somehow warranted.

Caine did all of this to get back to the humans while believing they fully intended to kill him.

for once gangle reached out to them, it's worth noting that compared to everyone else she didn't seem too hurt by the news, probably because she assumed she was either dead outside or still working her crummy fast food job, zooble and the circus is probably the most happy she's felt in a while, but it's still hard news and she knows that, so she tries to lead zooble away, talk, like the always do, and zooble silently refuses

it's so heartbreaking because it reinforced something that gangle feared, that their relationship wasn't real, that if they left the circus they'd stop being friends and drift apart, and that's what happened. zooble learned the truth, that they're not real, that their real self is out there nonethewiser, and that they're really never getting out of the circus, and just locked up

I haven’t seen anyone else post these here yet, but I thought this thread of alex rochon’s post finale thoughts was really interesting! I’m still forming my thoughts so I’m mulling this over for now
