Hi!!! Welcome to my blog. My name is Avery, she/her, and I've been on Tumblr for about 12 years but have only ever really lurked and reblogged other peoples things. HOWEVER I've recently started posting some of my own writing and wanted to make an introduction post for anyone interested.

About Me ~~~~~

I'm in my twenties and working on my bachelors, an English major with a future in education, and I'm located in northeastern America (sigh). I am over 18 so please do not send me explicit or nsfw asks if you are a minor! I will not answer them. Other types of asks are fine though, and I always mark my 18+ content as such so please interact, but interact safely friends.

I love reading and writing poetry and creative writing, I might post some of my poems on here bc I think that sounds fun! I also love Shakespeare as I've studied him a lot. I also love pretty much all forms of horror /spooky (movies, books, short stories, music, etc).

“Hey love?” James asked from his spot in the grass next to Regulus. “How many people have you had sex with?” Blushing Regulus fervently looked up from his book, glancing around for anyone who might have overheard his brute of a boyfriend.

“Would you keep it down, Potter, I’m not interested in discussing that with the entire courtyard!” James just grinned, completely unapologetic as he always is with brash topics like sex. “ Why do you want to know?”

“I’m just curious. It doesn’t matter, obviously, but you know all the people I’ve been with.” At that Regulus had to roll his eyes; the whole school knew the list of people Potter had shagged and snogged because he had a habit of announcing it victoriously after the fact. Regulus’ own list, however, was… short. Less of a list and more a scrap of paper with James’ name written on it.

“If it doesn’t matter then I don’t think we need to discuss it.” Regulus said curtly and returned to his book, ignoring his boyfriend’s pout.

“Wait, did you shag someone really embarrassing? Is that why you don’t want to talk about it? Oh shit was it Snape?” He pestered with dawning horror and Regulus fought back his annoyance. 

“I didn’t shag Snape.” Regulus assures him, because he’s not a monster.

“Thank Merlin.” James breathed with genuine relief then fell back on the grass. It was silent for a few blessed moments before he opened his mouth again, quieter this time. “Were they better than me? Is that it? You can tell me- maybe I can improve! I could-” Now Regulus had had enough, his book snapped shut and he turned to James.

“It’s you, James. No one I’ve had sex with has been better than you because it’s just one name on the list. Happy now?” James eyebrows raised in shock for just a second before a grin spread across his face.

“Aww! Reggie! Why did you tell me? I would have made it special; lit some candles or something?” Regulus scoffed but he was smiling.

“This is Hogwarts, there are always candles. And I didn’t need to tell you. It was special anyway.” He said the last bit quietly but James still heard him and grinned wider, reaching to take Regulus’ hand and squeeze it. 

“Okay, well… What about the people you’ve snogged, huh? Surely not just me, come on tell me. Barty?” At that Regulus had had enough of his boyfriend’s pestering and, as he really did not want to share that particular list with James, he pulled his hand back and stood up, grabbing his book.

“I’m going to read inside.” James just threw his head back and laughed. 

“Ah, babe!” He called after him. “Just tell me! We can compare notes!”

“Lance, we should go.” Keith said, pulling on the sleeve of his boyfriend’s tank top that read ‘I love my transgender husband’ with an outlined t-rex colored with the trans flag (no, Keith didn’t get it, no, they were not married yet, and yes, he was flattered anyway). It was June and they were attending their city’s pride parade, which Keith would be more than happy to do, if it wasn’t so goddamn hot. 

“What! Why? I thought you were having fun!” Lance pouted but reached for his hand, their matching rainbow wristbands bumping together as they marched. 

“I was, but I’m sweating through my jacket- it’s too hot for this, I’m melting.” Lance rolled his eyes and pulled them to the side of the parade so they wouldn’t disrupt traffic, then stopped and let go of Keith’s hand to shrug off his backpack. 

“Here,” he said, holding up a water bottle. “Take your jacket off and drink this, then maybe we can finish the walk.” Keith huffed but obeyed, shrugged off his jacket for Lance to put in his backpack and uncapped the water bottle. 

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be here, he reasoned as he drank, it was just… a lot. A lot of people, a lot of noise, a lot of color even. The water was a good idea, he had a little bit of a headache and it was probably because he was dehydrated but the multiple booming speakers and general roar of the crowd didn’t help. He was almost done with his water and was going to tell Lance they should still leave when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see a kid, well a teen, a bit shorter than him with long brown hair and a ‘They/Them’ pronoun button on their rainbow shirt.

“Um, sorry!” They said excitedly and not very apologetically, “But are you Keith Kogane? Like, from Voltron?” Keith nodded with a polite smile and the kid squealed excitedly. “I knew it! You are like, so, so, cool! I’m so glad you’re here! I wrote you a letter a few years ago, I don’t know if you read fan mail I sent it to your office- but my name is Codi, and you are like, totally my inspiration! I didn’t think I could ever really be out or like, live as a trans person but then I saw you and, like, you’re trans! But you’re also you! And it was like, wow maybe I can do that too!” 

It was a lot of words very fast but Keith had to smile. He remembered this kid.

“Hi Codi, yeah I actually do remember your letter. It’s good to meet you.” Codi laughed disbelievingly then asked;

“I’m sorry I know we’re strangers and it’s like, a bajillion degrees out, but- could I have a hug?” Keith tensed. This didn’t usually happen anymore, their fame had kind of faded once the Voltron TV show was cast and the actors looked nothing like them, and people started recognizing them less. Keith was grateful because this kind of thing - hugging strangers - was not his ideal, but for Codi?

“Of course.” Keith said warmly, and hugged them. They had tears in their eyes when they pulled away but were still grinning. 

“Wow!” They said, brushing at their cheek, “So embarrassing, but thank you! I won’t keep you. Happy pride!” They shouted before disappearing back into the crowd. Keith stared ahead for a second, dumbfounded, until he felt Lance’s hand back in his. He squeezed gently, an acknowledgement of all the things Keith was feeling that he couldn’t put into words. 

“Still want to leave?” Lance asked, and Keith shook his head.

“Oh my number four! What happened to your neck?” Coran called out and Keith’s hand slapped quickly to the side of his neck, eyes wide, as the other paladins turned to look at him. They were having one of their monthly get-togethers, this time at Lance’s house, and when Keith had shown up early they had gotten a little… carried away.

“Nothing, it’s fine.” He said quickly.

“It’s quite red on the side, are you sure it doesn’t hurt?” Keith spared a glance to Lance who was pink faced and was pointedly not looking at him, which was almost more obvious than if he had been staring.

“It’s fine, Coran. It must just be- um, mosquito bites, or something.” Mercifully Coran nodded, enthusiastically, and the other paladins went back to their conversations.

“Ah, yes! I’ve heard tell of the Earth's mosquito, and the havoc it once wreaked on the human population! I believe your modern human medicine has eradicated the danger?” 

“Uh- yup. Gotta love vaccines.” Keith said awkwardly, still trying to decide how long he had to cover his neck for. Was it really that obvious?

“You know there was a bug on a neighboring planet to Altea that left marks very similar to that, but it had strange effects!” Keith hummed in agreement, trying to catch Lance’s eye but he was staring intently at Hunk while he talked. “We called it a Lovebug! One bite had your systems flooding with endorphins, you might fall in love with any person you saw!”

“That’s interesting, Coran.” Keith mumbled. Maybe he could slip into the house through the back door? 

“Of course they called it that because the bite looked like a lover’s bite as well. I’ll have to do more research on the Earth mosquito. I didn’t realize their marks were so similar to hickeys!” That word hickey must have finally got Lance’s attention because he looked up and caught the SOS in Keith’s expression. As casually as he could, which was not very casual, he set down his drink and grabbed Keith’s elbow, pulling him towards the house.

“Hey I think I have some mosquito ointment inside, let’s just- go check Keith.” He said far louder than necessary as he pulled him away from the group, Keith’s hand still on his neck. “Seriously? You couldn’t have looked in the mirror before coming out here?” He whispered harshly once they were out of earshot.

“Don’t blame me, I didn’t suck on my own neck!” Keith smacked him with his free hand but followed him into the house.

In the backyard their friends watched disappear with shaking heads. 

“I can’t believe they think they’re subtle.” Hunk sighed, and everyone but Coran laughed.

“I wasn’t aware mosquito bites carried a social taboo, was he trying to be subtle? Should I not have mentioned it?” Coran asked genuinely, and Hunk and Pidge laughed.

It was their first June back on Earth, having arrived in early August the year before, and Lance was determined to go camping. Growing up in Varadero, he had never really been camping before; outdoor activities were always more beach-themed and much closer to home. But now that he was back in the midwest but not locked down at the Garrison, he was determined to experience it.

It helped that Keith loved camping too.

“I don’t understand why you’re doing this.” Pidge said flatly, sitting by being generally unhelpful while he packed his duffel on the kitchen table. “We were basically camping in the lions for months. Starry view, eating rations, getting cabin fever? Now you’re going to willingly sleep on the ground.” 

“It’s not the ground!” Lance protested, unable to resist rising to her sibling integration. “We’ll be in a tent, and a sleeping bag. And I want to go because I’ve never done it before. The lions don’t count, we didn’t roast a single marshmallow.” Pidge snorted.

“I just think you might be romanticizing it a little. And speaking of romanticizing-” She waggled her eyebrows.

“No, don’t-” Lance pointed at her, cheeks already pink.

“I’m just saying! You and Keith, alone in a tent for three whole nights. Anything could happen.” The eyebrow waggling continued and Lance groaned.

“I miss when you were fifteen and grossed out by romance, this sucks.” Pidge cackled but Lance still smiled. “I don’t know. I’m not getting my hopes up. I mean, this is Keith we’re talking about, there was a time when three nights alone in a tent would have killed us.” 

“You mean you would have killed each other.” Pidge corrected.

“Exactly! And now it’s all so different and there’s all this weird tension between us but like, in a good way?”

“Ew.”

“There’s the Pidge I know and love.” Pidge snorted again then hopped down from her place on the kitchen counter to reach into his duffle and pull out his sleeping bag.

“Take this out.” She shoved the roll into Lance’s chest. 

“What, why? I don’t want to carry it separately, it'll be too bulky.” She rolled her eyes.

“Don’t carry it separately, leave it here!” 

“Leave it here?” He repeated and Pidge sighed dramatically.

“Oh Keith,” She said in a dramatic imitation of Lance’s voice. “I must have forgotten my sleeping bag, whatever shall I do? We’ll have to share yours, let’s cuddle for warmth!” They both dissolved into laughter and Lance took the sleeping bag, considering it before finally setting it behind the counter. 

“Alright, you’ve convinced me. I’ll leave it here.” Pidge grinned and then a knock sounded at the door. With one more eyebrow wiggle she answered it and Keith stepped inside, looking more excited than he had all year, fanny pack already on and stocked for the trip.

“Hey Pidge, hey Lance. Are you ready? Got everything you need?” Lance zipped up his duffle with finality, appreciating how light it was now that he took the sleeping bag out.
