in america it’s no longer safe to go to school, to go to the aquarium, to go to grocery stores, to ride public transit, to go to work, to walk through certain neighborhoods, to go to your place of worship, to go to the movie theater, to go to nightclubs, to go to restaurants, to go to university, or even to be in your own home. how is this a sustainable way of life? every day there is a horrible, soul-shaking tragedy caused by white nationalists with guns and we just have to live with it. this is just our way of life now and because the vast majority of our politicians are at the back and call of the nra, we just have to accept that this is happening to us—to our children, to our elders, to our friends, to our colleagues, to our communities. we just have to keep living through this grief without any chance to process what is happening because every time we start processing one mass shooting, another one happens. it’s endless and i’m so exhausted on every level.
