wally is a very enigmatic individual, at least as far as your neighbours go, and that peculiarity extends to your friendship

he always seems to pop up whenever you’re feeling low, even if you haven’t spoken a word of it to anyone

this can be when you’re just outside, when you’re stopping by a neighbour’s house, or even when you’re at home — he’ll be at the door ready with a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on

well you’ll likely have to crouch as the poor thing is only 12 apples high

he is occasionally willing to share his apples with you, but this mostly happens when he’s gifted something with apples in it that isn’t an apple itself

you’re the only one who he lets see him eat in his preferred way — which is freaky at first but you quickly get used to it

he paints and sketches you a lot, oftentimes absentmindedly, and he’ll gift his best works to you which is incredibly flattering as he’s definitely good at what he does

he’s incredibly chilled out and won’t complain if you randomly decide to just pick him up and move him elsewhere, he just kinda goes limp and accepts his fate

like — ‘… and then howdy told me he was out of apples — can you believe that? honestly, neighbour, i -’ *gets picked up* ‘-okay, anyway as i was saying…’

speaking of, whenever wally raids his store of its apple supply, howdy usually checks with you first to see where the little thief has run off to (and if you’re harbouring a criminal)

home also loves you to bits and you guys have to have regular sleepovers or they’ll get a bit moody and short with poor wally

he lets you style his hair but he never really wears those styles out of the house, he has a distinct look and he prefers to keep it that way

even if he does look pretty good with his hair plaited like that…

loves loves loves handmade friendship tokens and would be the type to craft some sort of bracelet or necklace with you that’s the sort of ‘two halves of a whole’ aesthetic

(rainbow, of course)

mainly calls you neighbour but will refer to you by name when talking to others (e.g. ‘my friend (name), and i…’)

if you wear makeup he’ll be happy to help and despite not wearing any himself he’s actually really good at it

he also has an excellent recall and has dedicated all important dates to memory — as well as making notes upon notes of things you’ve mentioned liking/wanting throughout the year
