Sonja walked inside, the house being mostly empty. It was quite small, most of them sharing a room with a sibling closest to their age. So, that meant she was sharing a room with her twin brother.
She went to her room, hoping to get a break for a while. Of course, she didn't get a chance to get one. He mother called her over almost immediately. She wanted to just ignore her, but the consequences that will come with that gave her motivation to go and see what she wants.
"Yes mom?" She asked, waking to Slavia.
"Take some money and go to the town to buy wood. On your way back bring some water from the river as well." Slavia said, her tone harsh.
"I will mom." Sonja responded, taking some money from a small jar alongside a bucket and a carriage to bring the wood. The road to the town was long and it will get uncomfortable carrying all of that on her back with just rope as well as the water. If she's lucky one of her brothers will help her bring the wood back.
On her way to the town she thought to herself, she's the oldest child and the only female. Her parents will have her get married to someone soon against her will most likely. They were already pushing Gilbert to find a wife, he was the oldest male. She didn't think it was fair how he got to choose his wife, but she can't choose her husband.
While the sales man was loading wood on the carriage, a young man walked up to her. He looked to be around her age, his eyes were green and he hand short brown hair. He had a snowy white cat sleeping on his head.
"Hey, would you like to pet my kitty?" He asked, seeming kinda nervous and uncomfortable. He clearly wasn't from around here and was brought here to find a wife.
"Uhm... Sure?" Sonja said, equally uncomfortable and even more confused. She has been flirted with a few times before, but never like this.
"uhh... Here." He said, tilting his head so she can pet the cat. "Her name is Athens." He added.
"That's a nice name for a cat." Sonja said, trying to be nice. She did enjoy his soft spoken voice, a complete opposite of her family. All of them have a rough, harsh voice.
He smiled, nodding before standing up straight. "My name is Hercules." He said, dropping the whole trying to flirt thing.
"Nice to meet you Hercules, I'm Sonja." She responded, just then the sales man finished loading the wood.
"I'll help you with that." Hercules offered, hoping to maybe start a friendship with her.
"That would be really nice." She said, smiling and letting him drag the small carriage.
She lead him to the nearby river to get the water her mother told her to get, the two talking the whole way there. Well, it was mostly Hercules that was talking. She enjoyed listening to him, his mythology and the things he thought about.
Here is part 2. I will try my best to post an update daily, so don't expect them to be very long.
Just in case anyone is wondering, yes Hercules is Greece.
I might go more to detail in a separate post about Slavia if anyone is interested.
Thank you for reading, hopefully I'll continue tomorrow.
