Indulge in the rich, creamy goodness of homemade chocolate ice cream. This classic treat is perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings any time of the year.
Ingredients: 2 cups heavy cream. 1 cup whole milk. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Pinch of salt. 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate optional.
Instructions: In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and whole milk over medium heat until it starts to simmer, but not boil. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined. Gradually whisk the dry ingredients into the warm milk mixture until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool completely, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions. If desired, add chocolate chips or chopped chocolate during the last few minutes of churning. Transfer the churned ice cream into a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze until firm, about 4 hours or overnight.
