truthfully, a lot of my character building has to do with lessons i've learned in my own life. norah in particular has a lot of elements that i pull directly from being neurodivergent as a kid. i pick and choose parts of myself that i feel like i've learned enough about; it lets me know how to steer a character to satisfying decision making. the only warning i'll give with this method is that when you make a character that plays off your own experiences (especially the really hard ones), i find it to be MUCH more difficult to play and commit to if you're actively still struggling with it, at least for me. sometimes if its too real it kinda gets me in my OWN head at the table instead of my character's.
