‘Logan Lerman should’ve been Poseidon’ You fools. You absolute buffoons. I can’t believe we are sleeping on the comedic gold of him getting casted as the man, the myth, the stepdad that stepped up: Paul Blofis
Please this would be so funny
my basic opinion on "ai in college" discourse is that business degrees are fake but faulty infrastructure collapses and accidental hospital poisonings are very, very real
i dont think a business major "cheating himself" to use chatgpt to write an essay for his economics class is really any more contemptible than your average Guy In Advertising but i do think that in STEM stuff you are supposed to walk out of there actually Having The Knowledge and the idea of doctors and engineers and so one not actually having that is scary.
also if youre habitually using chatgpt for like a history or literature cultural degree (liberal arts stuff) i think it doesnt matter but i kinda wonder what youre getting out of it
oh yeah and also the way that the difficulty in verifying AI usage means accusations thereof are becoming a cheap tool for teachers to flex their petty power an internalized biases, often against students of color, is bad actually.

I disagree. It matters very much if liberal arts/humanities students use chatgpt to avoid putting in the work they're supposed to, because when they walk out with their degree they lack the skills they ought to have in areas such as critical thinking, methodology, and source critique. They also most likely lack the grit to dig in and do things properly, because they've never practiced it. All of this will show when they get a job they can't perform in.
This will devalue their degree, and with enough graduates lacking in important skills it will devalue everyones degree and in the end the whole field. Then humanities will no longer get funding (it's not that we get enough as it is, because it's not exactly a sexy, money-making field), all research grants will go to, I don't know, STEM and economics? because that's what people think is real science anyways, and we will no longer have any reliable research in literature, history, art, archaeology, language sciences and so on. It will be easier to spread lies (hey holocaust deniers), and harder to debunk them, because people will no longer have the tools to to do so.
It's happening already in both Europe and the US, with the political climates being what they are, and the way LLMs make up "facts" like they are writing badly researched fanfic only makes it worse.
I really feel strongly about this. Using chatgpt to write your eassay may feel like a handy short-term solution, but in the long run you're shooting yourself in the foot, AND you undermine the whole fucking field.
It's stupid, disrespectful, and you can do better.

So like historians are famously the people who’s job it is to know what happened at any point besides the immediate moment and if you’re asking the pattern recognition engines that’s been fed racist and antisemitic rhetoric the whole time it’s been going to do the work for you, it’s going to give you a dangerously incorrect view of the past which, if regurgitated, will reflect heavily on our present.
This is otherwise a smart angle but basically every liberal arts degree besides maybe creative writing serves a potentially invisible but extremely important role in society that you absolutely should not be allowed to use the racism regurgitator to get your degree in.
practicing the organ after church in an empty chapel is such an top tier Sunday activity
like, yeah I took the sacrament in here a few hours ago. now let me SHAKE the room by playing the Phantom of the Opera Overture. ☝️badly

whoever came up with rhytmn games was a genius. what if we took music and gave it gameplay. no notes 10/10.
pretty proud of this piece<3
THATS A PAINTING HOLY SHIT
this radio station is letting me play their Steinway grand piano hot dang
first song: a cruel angel's thesis, of course, alphabetical order

Careless Whisper
The first four bars of Wonderwall, as a joke
Umbral Ultimatum - toby fox
Mii Channel
Bloody Tears - Castlevania 2
Ground Theme - SMB (1985)
Margaritaville (for a question where one of the possible answers was Buffett)
Overworld - Zelda 2

River Flows In You - Yiruma
O Canada (for a fourth of july fireworks question)

Warthog Run - Halo 3
Choral Chambers - Christopher Larkin
Widow - Christopher Larkin
Pyramid Song - Radiohead
Sneaky Snitch - Kevin McLeod

Flamingo - Kero Kero Bonito (question about state bird of Florida)
Troupe Master Grimm - Christopher Larkin
Path of Pain - Christopher Larkin (just the shepard tone part of sealed vessel)
And various sound effects from Super Mario.
it was helpful that the kind of people that go to journalism trivia aren't the kind of people to play Minecraft or recognize songs from video game (Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros 1985).
and that no one asked to vet a song list beforehand
oh and Mendelssohn's Wedding March for the question about which us states allow you to marry your first cousin
mobility aids and glasses AND MEDICATION should be free for everyone
