when it rains, it pours

he tends to keep his hair in a bun, especially as the girls get older. keeps it out of his face and out of their reach [the twins each have their own hair tugging phase]

aside from the standard white/black/skin tone, he also wears colorful briefs like these. travie tends to buy them for him

after travie gets a home gym set up in the house they move into during patrick's final pregnancy, joe comes home to find an inversion table set up for him to use whenever his back is acting up. on the rare occasion where he isn't with patrick/travie/the girls, he can usually be found upside down

if he's awake, joe tends to tag along with travie on middle-of-the-night pregnant wife craving runs. he sometimes falls asleep on the way home

joe and matt have a very interesting dynamic. matt is like, 75% explicitly aware of Joe's Whole Deal with the mccoy family is via what travie tells him, but travie explained it as more of a patrick/travie/their third thing than a mommy/daddy/joey thing because y'know. joe deserves some privacy on the matter. but matt has watched enough of joe's interactions with travie and patrick to know that there's something more complicated than that going on

similar to the above, if joe ever gets to the point where both patrick and travie have to be on alert for him, matt is their go-to emergency babysitter. so he knows that joe sometimes gets...weird enough to the point where he needs to get quarantined from the girls for reasons matt is not aware of. he once politely inquired about it to patricia while they were at disney or some other fun activity travie venmo'd him the $ for, and his response was a shrug and the explanation her mom gave her: sometimes joey doesn't feel good and he needs a few hours of privacy with mom and dad to help him feel better. matt doesn't know if that means sex or something else and frankly he isn't desperate to know

joe's nails are always painted whatever color his sisters are into that week. each nail gets its own sticker as well

similar to the inversion table, he loves floating around on various inflatables in their pool. the hot tub also works wonders for his back

when travie tries to teach the girls to drive, his blood pressure skyrockets the second they're behind the wheel and more often than not, he drives them home from whatever parking lot they went to. patrick is too much of a control freak to let them drive in the first place. joe throws the keys at them and says it's payback for all the times he drove them somewhere when they were kids [in reality, he knows they need the practice and that neither of their parents are particularly good teachers]

whenever he's stressed, he takes the immortal penny for a walk. sometimes this results in multiple long walks per day and a very tired pomeranian

I knew I remembered him using the phrase about the keys and I am pleased to learn I didn't make it up.

patrick is such a my-way-or-the-highway guy and it bites him in the ass soooooooo much. there are probably multiple reasons for him being that way [and I'd argue that the "possibly" could be taken out of this quote] but no matter the reasons why, he's just not very good at collaborating with people, and I feel like it mostly comes from a combination of his want to only make What Patrick Likes and his lack of respect towards basically anyone else when it comes to musical talent.

patrick is an incredibly talented guy, but aside from his heroes [mj, costello, prince, etc.], I don't really get the feeling that he thinks of other people as equally talented as he is. he might appreciate input from them, but he's not gonna like...use it. they don't know as much as he does. they don't know His Music like he does. they aren't him. so why would he listen? he doesn't respect them as a peer, so he's not going to listen to them as one would a peer. simple as that.

the only way to combat it is to force him to listen, or in this case, take his keys away so someone else has to drive while he pouts in the passenger seat. especially after the...album that sp was, I can fully understand and sympathize with butch buckling him into the passenger seat against his will.

he's definitely better about it now, but I doubt that urge is fully gone. it only seems to disappear when he's around pete, which just makes me sigh.

and speaking of pete: there are a lot of reasons why I say I'll always support patrick throwing shit at him over the years but this is a prime example of it. telling preh patrick that his vice was gluttony is fucking INSANE.

anyways while patrick has his own thoughts and opinions about ai usage, he also strikes me as the kind of man who is nonconfrontational to a fault unless he's otherwise provoked [ie drunk] enough to get angry about something. younger patrick was more of a spitfire, but older patrick very much gives the vibes of, like you said, someone who would try to playfully/gently poke at travie for the ai bullshit rather than outright call him out on it. he doesn't want to upset his friend, but more importantly, he doesn't want his friend to be Mad at Him. patrick has such a deep-rooted need to be loved and safe that the slightest hint of someone being Mad at Him is enough to make him backtrack whatever he said to make them mad.
