I’ve been seeing a lot of douch-bagery from the Legend of Zelda fandom lately, and it makes me sad. This series has been with me since my childhood, many others childhood as well in fact! And yet here we are, either the majority of fans or a small very loud group being… Well. Assholes. I for one don’t want those people to be representing the fandom, so I decided to make this post. By reblogging this you are telling people:

There is no tagged hate on your blog; go ahead and not like a character, but don’t be a jerk and tag it so that everyone will have to scroll through your hate while they’re just trying to have a good time.

You have your theories; headcanons and opinions, respecting that others have theirs. You can debate with people about it, but you will be polite- no ugly or nasty fighting.

Ocarina of Time does not have to be everyone’s favourite Zelda game; it’s okay for people to not like it! Just as it’s okay for people to like or dislike characters. Respect that.

No shaming. Someone ships say Tingle and the great fairy? Go ahead and not like the ship, don’t shame them. Someone hasn’t played one of the games? Don’t shame them! This community really needs to learn more respect, or at least the side of the fandom that is full of disrespectful meanies does.

Any ‘ship wars’ will be civil affairs. No shaming, no ugly slurs or anything like that used. Go ahead and argue with someone over ships but the key is be polite about it!

When someone doesn’t know something; understand something or is confused about something, help them out! Don’t be rude or laugh at them, kindly give them some help so that way they know!

Don’t edit an artists or writers caption on their work. Don’t take a post about say, ZeLink and edit it a bit then repost or reblog it so that it’s something like MidLink. Just don’t do it, once more just have some respect for their hard work!

Don’t use the word ‘friendzone’; it’s just not a nice word. List has been edited from this point on:

Don’t hate on someone just because they ship something you don’t! Also, don’t hate on someone if they don’t ship something you do.

This is all I can think of for now, but people are welcome to add more! I will be checking this to make sure the list says only positive things.
