He is murder machine that is not above attacking and killing any of his family members for survival, he holds onto the memory of these people either through religion, random cultural costumes, language or behavior.

he killed his "father" and lives with the paranoia someone will do the same to him, he's a proud father of 2 (even if he sucks at raising them)

[ A Kiss Goodbye ] Chilled to his bone. The sensation started to creep through the man slowly -- all the way down to his toes. The cold made his abdomen feel like it was tensing up from the anticipation of a strike, but it wasn't that. This was worse than being attacked physically. Romulus stared at the man across from him with a bewildered and almost distant look. He had words spiraling through his mind with no sensible way to be spoken at all. This couldn't be happening. It was all his fault, all his stupid fucking fault. Romulus felt the shame of his actions which led to this moment burn in stark contrast to the cold he had been feeling deep in his gut. Couldn't learn how to shut his goddamn mouth when it really counted, could he? Now he ruined everything with a man he had known for so long. Someone who he had respected, adored, loved, and then just smashed it all on the floor because his temper flared for less than a few seconds. Oh gods, he wanted to reach out and just pull him in for one more kiss. Just one more before Kleitos left and maybe that would be enough. Maybe that would be enough for him to see the Spartan off. The Roman wavered for a second trying to decide if he wanted to speak, step closer, step back -- he was lost.

Kleitos' heart that beat slowly enough at the best of times stopped in his chest as the words Romulus had just shouted at him registered while they rang in his ears and hummed in the air around them like someone playing a crystal glass. He forced breath out between his lips, prickles running up and down his spine and feeling his hackles raise at the back of his neck.

Rage and hurt mixed together in a dangerous cocktail behind his eyes and he was fighting over which emotion would lead the response. He was a level headed man these days. Little ruffled his feathers or got under his skin.

But Romulus was from before those times and that alone triggered something different from his psyche. He hadn't even recognized he was moving when he watched his palm make firm, hard contact with the Roman's cheek, snapping his head to the side.
