After losing the Finnish War, in September 1809, Sweden signs Finland and Åland away to the Russian Empire in the Treaty of Fredrikshamn. In October, shortly after arriving in Saint Petersburg, Tino Väinämöinen disappears, leaving his young daughter on her own in Ivan Braginsky's house, accompanied only by the disjointed unit of Baltic and Eastern European states who couldn't care less about their new housemate.
Their indifference and pre-existing complexes quickly come crashing down on them, and the longer the Finn is missing, the worse their condition becomes, as questions of what defines their very existence in such an uneasy time bring everyone to their breaking point.

Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are terrified of Russia, and rightfully so. When Mary and Russia are playing a fun little game together, the Baltic nations are incredibly concerned that the game is just naught but some kind of weird torture. Are they taking this too seriously, maybe traumadumping onto a poor little kid? Perhaps they took whatever they heard out of context? Who knows! All the Baltic nations want is Mary to not be with Russia, and that means re-opening their scars from their past to hopefully try and rescue her. Wait, does Mary even want to be rescued?
