#mids overly personal update

Me, a brown queer kid, moved to rural, backwoods Louisiana when I finished school, because I was offered a job that paid well. I was the first person in my family to ever move away, let alone move across the country. It was terrifying, but I grew up poor and I wanted that God damn paycheck. I thought the people would treat me like shit and some of them did. But I was surprised when most of my older coworkers just decided I was like family to them.

One of my coworkers, Miss Wanda, was close to retiring when I started. She'd come by my office every day to shoot the shit. My office had big front windows and we'd stand there and oogle hot fire fighters when they walked by.

I helped her with her retirement paperwork even though I wasn't supposed to. I was supposed to tell her to call the 800 number, but that paperwork is confusing as shit so I helped her anyway.

On her last day she brought me a lunchbag with my name embroidered on it. I have a weird name and have never had anything with my name on it and she embroidered it by hand for me.

We kept in touch after she retired just sending random messages.

I checked Facebook this morning to see that she had passed away.

I didn't expect to be emotionally fucking gutted today. God.

I float from fandom to fandom, ship to ship and I just floated back to ATLA and I'm like traumatized by the lack of Top Zuko/Dom Zuko content, so I'm like ah, I need to retraumatize this fandom by adding to this sadly lacking area. At first I was thinking I have to write sokka/zuko, because there's like 234 top Sokka fics for every 1 top Zuko fic and it just drives me fucking bananas, but I couldn't think of a prompt, so then I'm trying to match Zuko up with someone and my brain is flipping through ships trying to find the right pairing and I've finally settled on Zuko x Yue, but I can't quite think of how they start or how they meet. Like modern AU? And then my brain just really fumbles from there, but I will avenge Top/Dom Zuko and no one can stop me.
