Iâm bored so here is a guide to canine referrals for characters.
N, Snout: refers to the mouth + nose area
N, Nozzle: the nose
N/V, Conk: the nose (British) or to âbe conked outâ
N, Maw: the mouth or referring to an animal having something in its mouth
N, Swallow: âin his swallowâ in context, it makes sense. Without context, it doesnât (because it isnât linguistically correct in the English language)
Adv, Aborad: away from the mouth
N/V/Adv, Saliva/Salivating/Spit/Spitting/Drool/Drooling: Drooling isnât reasonless, itâs usually the bodies reaction to seeing something that makes it hungry ofc. But dogs sometimes âfoam at the mouthâ when aggressive or they might have rabiesâŚthey wanna take a bite and you canât stop them
N, Bazoo: referring to the chatter or mouth âHe couldnât keep his big bazoo shut.â
N, Fang/Molar/Incisor/Canine: Fangs and canines can be referred to the same! Molars are the teeth in the back of the mouth and incisors are in the direct front
N, Crest/Nape: both refer to the back of the neck
N, Scruff: referring to the fur on the back of the neck
N, Hind legs: back legs
N, Forelegs/paws/foot: referring to the front legs
N, Hock: back ankles
N, Lion: the lower back area
Tail language is important for conveying a certain emotion based on connotations (which are honestly the most important).
Wag/Wagging: happy
Flick/Flicking: Wary or calm depending on the determiner (adjective) âFlicked warilyâ âFlicked absentmindedlyâ
Clammed/Clamming: refers to abruptly stopping âtheir tail clammed upâ (has connotations of âblabbermouthâ so it works well if the canine wags their tail a lot and gets told to shut up or wtv)
Lashed/Lashing: negative connotations, refers to anger, âlashing outâ.
Beat/Beating/Thump/Thumping: thumping is softer, beating has more force. âTheir tail was beating/thumping against [insert wall, leg, etc] [adverb]â
Most of this is common knowledge, I assume, but if it isnât then here you go! Most of this was written because a lot of popular authors I have been reading disregard connotations and reading comprehension has gone way down amongst popular authors and itâs a friendly reminder to be unique and enjoy what you write about!
Finally being comfortable talking about my disorders to people irl is so goddamn freeing
I think talking about them through a screen simulates that distorted reality that there is still a sentient being on the other side of this screen, but there is a buffer where I donât have to sit in agonizing embarrassment, I can just scroll away and block if I get really uncomfortable
I didnât forget about you! I happen to be focused on trying to make it another day!!
LOOK IN THE TAGS!! Just so y'all know, whenever I criticize an aspect of fandom that people engage in, I'm not saying that they don't deserve to be a part of the community, or that somehow, they are bad people. I think as I've gotten a little more vocal as the time goes on, I need to clarify this. When I agreed with @/ktcznsky's critique of how people in this fandom idealize Adler, romanticize AdlerBell, and sexualize MkUltra, that wasn't me saying that the subjects of that critique are bad people or predators. That was not me attempting to drive people out of the community. (No hate to AdlerBell shippers, btw, but please educate yourself on the topic of MkUltra and who was victimized. Just because you turned Adler and Bell's relationship into toxic yaoi does not mean you are exempt from researching what Black Ops Cold War was using in its story. Shipping is not the end all be all of media literacy.) I know that there's a lot of proshippers in this space, and an issue I've had with them in the past is this idea they have that criticism of any kind is basically like saying: "YOU ARE A WRETCHED BEAST OF A PERSON AND YOU DO NOT DESERVE THE ABILITY TO ENJOY ARTTTTT!!" If I voice critique, or dislike, of something you do, that's not me asserting authority over you to stop doing it. Believe it or not, you don't have to acknowledge every criticism that, in some form, comes your way and you can ignore it. And also, I'm not attacking YOU-- I'm attacking the idea. It's not the same as me going into your inbox/DMs directly to tell you that I don't like how you're doing something completely unprompted. It's barely even comparable to me snatching the pencil out of your hands. This isn't a moral debate, we're talking about fanposting. It'd be a whole other thing if I outright said "if you ship [x problematic ship] you deserve to be driven away with pitchforks and arrested", because we're talking about fictional characters who do not exist to feel things. A part of discussing and appreciating fiction is criticism. Fanfiction is fiction, and thus, I believe is subject to this even if it isn't the official material. Now, that doesn't mean that we should be tearing fanfictions apart and tell the authors that they're terrible. That's mean. That's cruel. Fanfiction is a completely free service and should not be held up to the same scrutiny as actual paid, professional fiction; they cost absolutely nothing to read. It's one thing to critique, it's another to discourage. (If I were in a fanfic environment with a bunch of Critical Drinkers and Daft Pinas running around, I probably would've never gotten into writing fanfiction tbh.)
What I'm getting at, is that trying to silence every single negative opinion ever is going to result in an environment of toxic positivity, and that's just as bad as an outright negative one. Criticism is not harassment, harassment is not criticism. Please don't treat fandom like it's your perfect safe space with little bean bags, it really isn't.
[Additional edit for clarification: This post is not a justification for giving authors completely unwanted criticism for their fanfics. It's sort of an unspoken rule in Fandom that you should only be giving negative feedback if the Author wants it. What I'm talking about in this post are general concepts in fandom that appear in fanfics that are not specific to one person, such as shipping. It's one thing to voice criticism for a ship, but it's another to directly criticize someone's fanfic because it featured the ship you don't like. Please practice mindfulness and behave accordingly.]

Dear diaryâŚagain
CW: Sexual themes, S@ talk, and slight venting
I hate hate hate being in certain fandoms with masked men. Everywhere I turn, lust and more lust over these characters.
I donât know why, but seeing certain characters be sexualized just feelsâŚwrong. Like, they would never do that?? But then IâM in the wrong for saying: âGhost from COD would not be a hot dom daddy who chokes you, he is traumatized both physically and sexually.â oh I see how it is! You can get mad over Genshin characters being âblackwashedâ (whatever THAT means) but I canât tell you that sexualizing SA rep is OFF BALANCE on SO many levels??
Iâve been told Iâm acting like a âSWERFâ by saying this.
âYou should know there will be sex where there are characters that influence certain kinks (dominants, masks, bondage, military men, etc)â I THOUGH WE WERE ADULTS WITH BRAINS?? THAT SEXUALIZING THE SA REP IS BAD?? You arenât rabid animals who have to be locked up to control your urges bro, just take any other character who hasnât been canonically assaulted.
âSexually @ssaulted people can still participate in sex.â YeahâŚI didnât say they couldnât, but I DID say you shouldnât blindly sexualize SA rep because itâs disrespectful to the many victims of such abuse (including me).
Ughhh I just canât even get involved in fandom content without these characters being reduced to nothing but visions for your fantasies.
No tags bc idgaf who reads this shii and Iâll probably get a lot of hate for saying it.
Dear Diary??
CW: Cannibalism
We hear about cannibalism a lot, demonetized in media. For good reason, of course. Eating another person is quite morally questionable and often cases: wrong.
As a person who lies awake thinking about such things. I wonder whatâs wrong with me. Because that is not normal, at all. Thinking about digging my fangs into my loverâs soft forearm, feeling blood drip from my lips and kissing my him with them. Though I think itâs more of a skin thing than a human thing, I think eating any other part of the body seems less appealing. Itâs not even sexual, itâs purely romantic or playful; like a puppy play fighting and accidentally nicking his playmate.
Eugh.
I was watching a video on it, wondering if I was going insane and why I donât experience the same disgust most other people do when encountering such ideas. I find skin a very fascinating organ. Itâs so weak and yet holds all of our muscles, tendons, ligaments, veins, and skeletal structure. I donât even think it would taste good.
Itâs also a vampirism ??Thing??, like yes let me have dining access to your paper cuts. I promise I just brushed my teethâŚ
I donât want to hurt my partner, I donât want to eat them either, I just get the urge to take a bite sometimes. Like a rabid were-vampire.
âWhat happens after death?â
Seemingly an ongoing question, often answered by faithful beliefs or oriented non-believers.
It seems so feeble, to ask such a question, since no one can even get a sliver of experience in that department and remain to tell the tale.
But I ask, does the plant fear turning to dust, can it? Aching for a drop of water and stopping to think about once it runs out?
Do lambs to the slaughter fear what happens after, or do they loathe the present? Thinking about anything but the sharp cleaver in the humanâs hands.
Are humans the only species that consciously devolve into such ponders of curiosity? Will the curiosity kill the cat?
My intro I guess
Uhh hi! Iâm honestly just going to post on here to track my writing progress, itâs probably shit now and I can guarantee it will be shit later, so do what you will with that information. Iâm in a very small amount of fandoms that mostly encompass Gravity Falls, COD, The Hunger Games, and similar fandoms. I donât have much time for fandoms since Iâm just busy a lot.
I like psychology, anthropology, art, and philosophy.
If I was an instrument, Iâd def be an old bass guitar that works well but needs a good tuning every now and then.
I enjoy reading angsty shit about my favorite characters and I donât enjoy having to share the earth with my enemies. Shoo already you old hags.
Yeah thatâs it.
