Like immediately afterward he goes home and stays home to help Al recover, then travels the West as like a scholar, then settles down with Winry and has kids–it’s pretty obvious he never went back to the military at any point during that, and that he’s stayed well and far out of the public eye.

So what’s that leave the military with? “Hey you heard of Edward Elric?” “Oh yeah isn’t he that dude who passed the state alchemy exam at 12, punched God in the face, toppled the whole military coup with Fuhrer Mustang, and vanished? Yeah he had a cubby here for like…4 years.”

And with so many people knowing half-truths about what really happened in Amestris, I fully believe that hundreds of fantastically stupid and marginally correct rumors spread about Ed. “I heard Ed Elric met God twice.” “I heard he’s the only person to ever successfully break the core law of alchemy.” “I heard he’s a 4,000 year old prophet who discovered immortality and that’s why he’s so skilled.” “I heard he fought a tank.” “I heard God personally took his limbs away and that’s why he’s half-metal.”  “I heard he actually invented alchemy.” “I heard he once beat up Fuhrer Mustang with his own hands.” 

Like it’s the most central, prominent piece of small talk among new recruits–who knows the best little factoids about the child prodigy who hangs with God and saved the world and disappeared Jesus-style immediately after. Mustang walks out into press conferences, maximum security with reporters clamoring to lobby their questions at the leader of the entire nation, and somehow he always ends up with a flood of “Can you confirm?” tall tales about Ed.

“Fuhrer, is it true that Edward Elric discovered how to transmute his soul into a higher plane of existence and so he quit the military to achieve the status of a god?” 

Because Mustang wasn’t trying to fight Scar.

Ed being saved at the last second is excellent dramatic tension, but ignore the storytelling stuff and look at the scene from a tactical perspective. Scar can destroy/kill anything he touches. His hand is literally inches away from Ed’s face, and Ed can’t even get to his feet, let alone defend himself. Scar’s really fucking fast, and the backup is standing a good twenty feet back. Which is why everyone stands there and lets him have a little monologue, because this isn’t a showdown with a serial killer; it’s a hostage situation. If Scar went for the kill, they wouldn’t be able to stop him. They’re not going to talk him down, Ed’s not going to escape, so the immediate priority is to make Scar move away. Ideally without alerting him to the fact that he’s got a hostage at his feet.

So Mustang hands Hawkeye his weapon and steps up as a shiny distraction, trying to get Scar to walk away from the helpless Fullmetal Alchemist and come fuck up the Flame Alchemist instead. Note that Hawkeye doesn’t move until Scar’s begun walking forwards; she’s not going to make any sudden moves while the serial killers got a victim in arms reach. But one Ed’s out of immediate danger, she’s charging in to cover Mustang, and shots get fired.

Also notice how Ed doesn’t react to the situation until Havoc’s helping Ed sit up? Yeah, that also seems… purposeful. When Scar’s giving his short monologue, he’s literally standing over Ed. Of course Ed’s going to be silent and stay perfectly still - if he draws Scar’s attention, then he’ll be killed or used as a hostage. So he just keeps laying there while Scar’s standing over him, and doesn’t try to wiggle away or say anything, because it would be a very bad time to be noticed.

But it’s not propaganda. It doesn’t say “yes the military ordered our characters to do bad things but our characters are the Good Ones! They’re the pure of heart Good Guys who you can trust!” It says “our characters are complicated humans who have committed atrocities and even though they have redeeming qualities they are still murderers and deserve justice enacted upon them for what they’ve done.” It doesn’t make excuses or exceptions.

Riza tells Ed that once Roy is Fuhrer his plan is to reinstate Parliament and return the country to a democracy, and then put all of the “war heroes,” the soldiers who fought in the Ishvalan Civil War, as war criminals, to which Ed is shocked and points out “but that means you and the Colonel will be put on trial as well!” And Riza’s response is “Yes. Exactly.” Ed points out how the Homunculi were really the ones behind the war and it was due to their manipulation and orders that the war happened, and Riza tells him that even though they were “just executing orders” they still executed those orders and they are still murderers.

It constructs a world that is similar to ours and is absolutely horrendously flawed and then deconstructs it to hell and back.

Bakugou doesn’t really receive a lot of affection from his parents so he’s kind of touch starved. He doesn’t realize it until his birthday when Mina- who is a very affectionate friend- engulfs him in a hug and refuses to let go until he hugs her back. Mina and Kirishima both tend to hang off of him sometimes. Although he pretends to be mad, he kind of enjoys the physical contact. Sometimes without realizing it, he’ll sling an arm around Sero’s shoulders while they’re walking to class, or lean into Kaminari’s side during a movie night.

Bakugou likes to chill with Tokoyami (they’re bros, I’ve said it once and ill say it again)

Bakugou gets so used to Shinsou and Tetsutetsu chilling in the 1A dorms he accidentally dishes them up food when they’re not there and gets Kirishima or Kaminari to deliver it for him.

Mina accidentally hears him singing and loves it so when they’re alone she asks him to sing to her and he does it - reluctantly- after telling her if tells anyone else he’ll kill her 

He listens to music with Jirou

He likes to study with Momo sometimes because they actually get stuff done

When he learns Denki has dyscalculia, he’s more patient during study sessions and yells less. This is how he realizes screaming at people isn’t the best way to tutor them.

After the sports festival and press conference where Aizawa defended Bakugou, he becomes incredibly defensive when he hears people badmouth Aizawa or the UA teachers.

He likes having one on one time with Sero. He finds Sero is easy to talk to and likes going to cafes and boba shops with him.

He’s not stupid, he knows he shouldn’t bottle up his feelings, but sometimes he can’t help it. He doesn’t want to seem weak or vulnerable. He finally breaks when Kirishima pesters him (in a soft way) to open up. He sobs into Kirishimas arms and Kiri pets his hair and tells him that he’s safe and that he’s not going anywhere.

THIS ARGUMENT IS NOT VALID!

KIRISHIMA IS NOT KATSUKI’S ONLY FRIEND.

Also he calls Kirishima mean nickanmes to do with his hair? He called Eijirou ‘Kirishima’ once because he was concerned about him. You silly people. 

Stop using that excuse to invalidate Bakugou ships. And you can not use that if you are not anti-endeavour, anti-mitsuki or anti-mineta. 

If he would be abusive to one person, he will be abusive to e v e r y o n e no exceptions. Abusers are abusers and you cant change that. There is no exceptions, ok? Lets talk about why it is invalid with certain ships.

Bakugou x Denki. (KAMIBAKU)

They are friends, they have multiple interactions where they aren’t fighting. Denki is not scared of Bakugou at all, he just doesn’t like the yelling. He stands up to Bakugou plenty of times. He has called Bakugou ‘Kacchan without death. Or even Bakugou yelling at him. He has willing sat with Kaminari on multiple occasions when Kirishima was available. 

In season four, somehow, Kaminari was the only one who knew Bakugou used to take drum lessons. ANd yOU ARe telLing Me they aren’t FrIENds.

Bakugou x Todoroki (TODOBAKU)

Todoroki is not afraid of Bakugou. Bakugou is only mean to him because of two things

1) he sees Todoroki as an equal competitor. 

2) The Sports Festival.

Todoroki is not afraid of Bakugou, their dynamic is amazing. And Bakugou is able to joke about Shouto. Does he make jokes around Kirishima? nO… NO HE DOES NOT.

See? Those are two perfectly valid ships, that people try to invalidate using that excuse. Kiribaku is valid but so is other ships. 

Everyone has already moved on to disco Bakugou and Todoroki, but I wanted to draw Maboroki-kun too haha _(:’3/
