I have to wonder why they did so? Or well, I sorta can tell why; they're a scientist, the whole transferring ancients into puppets probably would raise ethical concerns to the public, and they seemingly always were more focused on how to make MIP into something far greater.

Still, I'm curious of their thought processes I guess, cause I find the way NCTG distorted NMMST's dream interesting, given the sheer lengths they went to with it.

they only pushed for that angle with LOF and PU at the very start; LOF & PU are aware of their own origins

SLS was gaslit pretty heavily for. i think a number of reasons

but the reason the Director would be most forthcoming with was because she was bad at lying and it would be easier for her to do the MIP Official Presentation (to prospective Sponsors) if she had nothing to hide (by virtue of not knowing / believing the truth)

I do wish to write more logs and such actually Showing this but the Director is someone who likes to be In Control and likes to have a Comfortable hold on the Top of the Hierarchy

in semi related news i hope to make a comic eventually around the time after sls' activation (mainly focusing on lof and pu's "grief" for melodies)
