It’s honestly wild to me how everyone always writes Cal as this super sensitive, scared, or weak character. If anything, Andre has so much more of those traits than Cal does in the slightest. Andre is way more emotionally reactive, insecure, and honestly just a lot more fragile than he lets on. The way people oversimplify Cal’s character by just putting him up to "sensitive" and idek-how-to-explain-it, is frustrating, because it completely ignores the complexity of the characters. Andre was deeply reactive to his emotions, constantly responding to every situation with a sense of urgency or anger or fear. He couldn’t quite control his feelings or impulses, Cal was the complete opposite. Cal is calm, composed, and far more emotionally distant. He didn't allow his emotions to dictate his actions and barely looked like he felt anything at all. Where Andre felt everything intensely and without filter, Cal was very detached. Andre was sensitive to the world around him, sometimes overthinking or getting hurt by things that didn’t seem to faze Cal at all. Cal was far less reactive and seemed so uncomfortably distant and fucked up. They're both bad, one is emotional, the other isn't mentally there 80% of the time
