i’m having many thoughts about the passenger x the pitt so
benson taking randy to the hospital because the improvised stitch-work they did on randy’s shoulder (obviously) gets infected. (despite benson’s grumblings about the medical system being a capitalist bear-trap.) they’ve made it up to pittsburg before they finally find a hospital and randy’s clearly not doing well.
whitaker ends up assigned to their case and, despite the fact that multiple staff-members are side-eying benson for his skittish behaviour, it’s clear he’s genuinely concerned so it’s written off as nerves or stress. robby comes by to check up on dennis and how everything is going but you just know benson is watching the exchange closely. partially out of trauma and worrying that smth predatory is going on, but once he notices that whitaker seems pretty reciprocal with the tension, benson relaxes and finds if more amusing than anything. as soon as robby leaves, benson is staring very blatantly at dennis who eventually is like “what?” to which benson just bluntly asks, “you his boy-toy or somethin’, doc?”
dennis is obviously immediately speechless and stammering while an equally mortified randy, though semi-fucked up on painkillers is like “benson! you can’t say that!” whitaker denies it in the most professional way he can but later on when benson is out for a smoke, randy (again, a lil fucked on pain meds) looks at whitaker and is like “i mean… *do* you guys have something going on?”
meanwhile benson is outside having a smoke and runs into dana who he ends up mumbling something about “the little mousey doctor” and “some fucked age-gap situation” (seemingly not thinking about how hypocritical it is lmao). dana (rightfully) gets a weird vibe from him and brings it up to robby who’s just like “??? why would he think *that*?” even though he obviously knows.
bonus thing i can’t get out of my head: benson getting his shit rocked by abbot for being a self-righteous lil bitch.
second bonus thought: santos being like “holy shit that kid with the gsw has a more pathetic look than you, huckleberry.”
