Measuring the worth of your contribution to liberation struggles based on impact is capitalistic. You won't see the end of it unless you realise the act of measuring worth based on output at all is the product of capitalism, the very rot that still colonises even your psyche. What matters is you did it.
If all you've ever done so far helped some people or even just one person, one life experienced that a better, humane alternative is possible, you've become one of the nodes through which resistance takes shape, liberation comes through, and movement lingers. Movement shouldn't be halted just because one person changes or disappears. Movement dies when nobody resists anymore.
What matters is you did it. No matter how small you think it is. You did it.
I rly need USAmericans to start referring to factories in our own country as sweatshops bc like, what do you mean "oh no this will be animated in a korean sweatshop" like at some point its just factories its just labor conditions like idk I know we were all taught when we were young about all the "good US factory jobs" that used to exist but turns out those jobs are still in the US they just got white trash working in awful factories without unions in Kentucky and undocumented latino immigrants working in similar factories in LA. Labor exploitation is not some shit that just happens in scary foreign countries!
I think people would be less suicidal if they were allowed to talk about being suicidal without risk of being sent to the Torture Dungeon
i think my main problem is that i do actually subscribe to viewing sf as a genre containing an inherent liberatory impulse and i am a utopian at heart, in the Blochian sense, alas i keeping finding myself stuck between otherwise politically savvy sf male writers with very clearly unexamined misogyny and heterosexism, feminist/queer sf writers whose liberal feminist/queer praxis keeps forgetting about class and oppressive state structures and sometimes other axes entirely, scholars/activists who keep trying to write a politically conscientious sf and end up with the driest manifesto with cardboard characters and lacking in prose, "literary" writers who think themselves superior to sf then unsolicitedly decide to try their hand at it without any familiarity or care for the genre and reinvent the wheel in the most obnoxious and inferior way, and fun and pleasant sf books with ultimately lukewarm politics where the potential is present but not fully realized or purposely abandoned for some universalist goals; and ursula le guin is dead.

when you're all "maybe I'm just imagining all that c-ptsd shit and I should reach out to my mom tomorrow" but then somebody genuinely compliments your hair (which you've been growing out and brushing and styling) in a text about an accidental partial selfie you sent them so you have a brief panic attack and start crying on the couch because somebody noticed and how dare you enjoy your appearance or take the slightest action to be attractive you fat sack of hateful meat you should punish yourself so I don't have to
“Why are people dropping they/them from profiles” “a lot of people have stopped being nonbinary” “i feel like a lot of people i knew who were nonbinary identify differently suddenly” its the violent exorsexism in larger society and within queer communities that happens like clockwork when there is a rise in anti-queer, anti-trans bigotry.
When fascism spikes, we get a two-fold where folks who cannot or will not assimilate are pushed by our oppressors to reconsider, and fellow queer/trans folks become some of the most aggressive enforcers of that “choice” in an attempt to buy safety within the majority.
This shit is why inter-community discourse is not just petty complaints—the refusal to hold solidarity with the weirdest, loudest, most visible queers in our midst is fascist as well as self-destructive. People are being forced into the closet, forced into labels that make others—including queer and trans people—more comfortable, because comfort and conformity becomes the biggest priority for many when shit hits the fan. And these are the scenarios that dont end up with nonbinary people dead.
You are abandoning the most vulnerable while preaching about privileges, and this saboteur mentality will not even ultimately save you when eventually you are either forced to learn that you do not fit how you thought you did or our oppressors shift the goalposts until even your presentation of sexuality and gender are not “normal” enough anymore.
The "I put food on the table and a roof over your head what more could you possibly want" type of parents are always so shocked that their kids never come back again once they find anywhere else that they can get food and a roof under better terms and conditions.
the thing abt the troubled teen industry that i never see anyone mention is they keep u in there for as long as they can. if u turn 18 they tell u that ur options are to sign urself in and consent to the continuation of the abuse OR u can sign urself out and they can help u bring all ur stuff to the nearest homeless shelter. these were seriously the only options for me when i turned eighteen.
this is a huge part of “adulthood is a social construct” btw. the fact that i turned eighteen didn’t make it stop being child abuse. i essentially signed away my adulthood so i didn’t end up homeless thousands of miles away from anything or anyone i knew. adulthood is meaningless if it can be denied so easily. children NEED the right to say “no” to ANYONE. youth liberation now and forever.

new ttrpg campaign
Working on the new campaign for my group. Gonna play Call of Cthulhu. Set in 1937.
Concept
The Credulist is a weekly national tabloid with the tagline "We Believe You". Published by the self-made millionaire (and blackmailer) Eleanor Vale, the paper prints a lurid mix of fact and fiction. ‪ On the back page of every issue is a solicitation for eyewitness accounts and photos of the strange--with good pay for good leads.
The PCs are journalists who work for Art Kincaid, the ever-bellowing managing editor and a traumatized veteran who once photographed something… wrong. ‪ Each story a 'reader' sends in will be a published adventure, and the players will play through it with the provided prefab characters.
Then their actual PCs will investigate the story (maybe years) afterward. And decide how (and if) to publish it, alter it, or bury it. Then as they choose to shape the publication of mythos shit, the main campaign will evolve.
Are the characters in MOUSE: PI for Hire actually cartoon characters? I keep seeing references to ink... are the insides of the mice actually ink and not blood?
