2023 Bucket
This is a bucket. Anything you don't want to take with you into 2024, feel free to drop it in the bucket. I will be burning the contents (with Hellfire) at exactly 11:59pm on New Year's Eve.
You don't have to type anything, at all. Just reblog the bucket and your intentions will be known by the universe. Or the bucket. Or whatever you like.
Ah, yes.. the three genders: Star Wars, Star Trek, and Stargate.
does anyone know if i can like block sites from appearing in my google images searches??? i keep getting those awful ai generated things with a hand coming out of a man's neck and just straight up not what i was looking for, because this was in a search for "curly hair in medieval paintings". it happens every time i search for anything vaguely art-reference-like and it's so fucking annoying and it clutters my search results so much. i don't wanna add specific commands to the query every time too, what i need is like a browser extension or something
Download uBlacklist for Firefox. Blocks sites you specify from appearing in Google search results
okay i found one! it works! everyone come get your blacklist đđđ
I made a list of as many ai sites i could find to block with ublacklist, just copy and paste them in ublacklist's options menu
this is fucking huge, and it's very easy to add more to the filter when you spot a rogue ai piccie in the results. thank you so much for making this list
when i was a kid i used to respond to the "glass half full/half empty" question by asking how the liquid in the glass got there in the first place. nobody ever gave me a chance to explain my reasoning so i'm doing it now
if you have a glass and it has some liquid in it, up to the halfway line, whether it is empty or full depends on what happened before the question was asked. if you started with a full glass and poured half out until only half remained, the glass is half empty, because if you continued pouring it would be fully empty. however, if you started with an empty glass and poured liquid from another container into the glass up to the halfway line, the glass is half full because if you continued pouring it would be all the way full. logical, no?
i was 13 years old when somebody finally told me it was supposed to be some kind of optimism/pessimism thing. i always thought it was a riddle that nobody let me solve
Okay but that actually goes really well with the metaphor. How did you get to where you are right now? Have things gotten better or worse? Does it seem like the trend is continuing?
Nobody's really an optimist or pessimist all the time, your outlook depends on the situation and how you arrived there.

For years I would look at posts and questionnaires about neurodivergence that takes about being so focused on something that you forgot to eat and be like, "Couldn't be me. Being hungry is so uncomfortable! Your stomach is growling and cramping? How do you ignore that?"
Then someone informed me that neurotypical people have a whole bunch of "hungry" sensations before they get to that point.....
They what
Yeah, I don't get it either, but apparently this is a Whole Thing.... Like they somehow detect blood sugar dropping and go, "Ooh, time for lil snack!"
See also: there is a feeling of "oh, I need to pee" that happens before "fidgeting around in my seat to finish this thing before running to the bathroom"
I read this and was like, "this can't be real" and then I looked for sources and like--
Adapting Intuitive Eating for Neurodivergent People
"This can be very harmful for neurodivergent people, as many neurodivergent people struggle to feel internal cues and bodily sensations, including hunger and fullness. An emphasis on âonly eating when hungryâ can result in neurodivergent people delaying eating until they are so hungry that they are shaky, highly irritable, or even on the verge of passing out. A focus on âstopping when fullâ may cause neurodivergent people to overthink every bite they take and scrutinize whether they are truly hungry or truly full. To modify Intuitive Eating for neurodivergent people, it may be important to focus on eating enough and eating consistently throughout the day, rather than eating according to oneâs hunger and fullness cues. Neurodivergent people may need more of a structured meal and snack schedule than neurotypical folks in recovery, as well as some guidelines around a minimum amount of food. This does not make their eating less intuitive or their recovery less real - it is an important way of honouring their bodyâs needs and unique ways of functioning."

"europeans are soooo much more enlightened and anti-racist than americans" haha sooo true, quick question, how do you feel about romani people?
Europe has types of racism americans haven't even heard about
Against people you didnt even know you could be racist against, on top of the racism against the people are usually racist against.
Reblog if youâre 30 or older

Way older đđđŞ
We've had enough of the English-speaking internet defaulting to USAmerican terms that we are all forced to learn against our will. Here are the new default settings:
"Southern" no longer means Texas. It now refers to the Philippine island of Mindanao.
"The Midwest" is now Harare, Zimbabwe.
The default legal system is now that of the devolved administration of Scotland.
"College" is an educational institution for 13 to 18 year olds, as in some parts of New Zealand.
The "president" is that of Guyana, currently Irfaan Ali.
If you use these terms to refer to something in the USA then you have to specify or else we won't know what you're talking about and you'll sound like an idiot. Thanks!
the " Constitution ":

americans be like ok i cant count past 12 actually
americans calling the normal way of measuring time âmilitary timeâ is always so cute to me. like theyre gonna start calling kilometers âarmy milesâ next or something
something I donât really see mentioned or acknowledged at all is that âbeing in the closetâ is a spectrum.
some people are only out to themselves.
some people are only out online.
some people are only out on specific websites or accounts.
some people are only out on a specific space on an account, such as a discord server.
some people are only out irl.
some people are only out when theyâre in an area they donât live in (such as the next city over, or on vacation).
some people are only out to their therapist and/or medical team.
some people are only out at school/uni.
some people are only out at work.
some people are only out to their family.
some people are only out to their friends.
some people are only out to their partner(s).
some people are only out to specific family/friends/partners.
some people express a muted or more âpalatableâ version of their identity in some or all spaces, not necessarily expressing the fullness of their identity anywhere but to themselves.
some people are partially or fully expressing their gender and/or sexuality, but not expressing other identity signifiers such as new pronouns or name.
or the above but express different versions of these signifiers in different circumstances or spaces.
some people express their identity fully, but donât correct anyone who is âwrongâ or tell anyone the full extent of their identity, with some answering when asked and others not.
some people have come out âfullyâ, and gone back into the closet âfully.â
some people are stealth, and are very cautious about who they allow (if anyone) to know their full identity.
and most queer people are incredibly complex mixtures of all of the above scenarios, and many more. I canât possibly list them all.
we cannot meaningfully divide experiences between those who are âin/out of the closetâ (full stop) because individual experience is way more nuanced than that. and everyoneâs definition of either in/out is going to be different, ranging from âif 1 other person knows, youâre out of the closetâ to âunless everybody knows the full extent of your identity, youâre not out of the closet.â

RATING: RELIABLE
The above is from this article from The Guardian. The images are from MYA Network. The caption on their website reads:
Source:Â âWhen a sperm and egg get together, the body creates tissue in order to support the developing pregnancy. Â Here are photos of that tissue from 5-9 week pregnancies. Â This is called the gestational sac, and itâs like the âhouseâ for the pregnancy. Inside this sac there are cells that have the potential to become a fetus but there is no visible embryo at this stage. We rinsed off the blood and menstrual lining (decidua) for these photographs.â
The published images sparked a lot of debate, leading to the story being picked up by other news outlets. For example:
Source:Â âLast week, the Guardian published images of pregnancy tissue after abortions in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. The small size and appearance of the tissue were shocking to many. We have all absorbed, knowingly and unknowingly, the pervasive anti-abortion narrative that a pregnancy resembles a tiny baby starting in the earliest weeks. Though an early embryo can be seen under the magnification of ultrasound, it can take months for it to be perceptible to the naked eye.â
Source: âPeople have responded in disbelief, citing the (magnified) images theyâve seen on ultrasounds. [âŚ] âThink of the illustrations on pregnancy and medical websites. The Mayo Clinic, one of the preeminent medical organizations in the country, shows week-by-week illustrations of embryonic and fetal development without any context of scale, like the rulers in the MYA photos.â
As stated in the article, whilst people talk about a âheartbeatâ at 6 weeks, there is no heart developed at this stage - only a group of cells that will become part of the heart.
Source:Â âBut what exactly do we mean when we talk about a âfetal heartbeatâ at six weeks of pregnancy? Although some people might picture a heart-shaped organ beating inside a fetus, this is not the case. Rather, at six weeks of pregnancy, an ultrasound can detect âa little flutter in the area that will become the future heart of the baby,â said Dr. Saima Aftab, medical director of the Fetal Care Center at Nicklaus Childrenâs Hospital in Miami. This flutter happens because the group of cells that will become the future âpacemakerâ of the heart gain the capacity to fire electrical signals, she said.â
It should also be noted that the images show an embryo, not a fetus, until the 9th week.
Source:Â âIn human pregnancies, a baby-to-be isnât considered a fetus until the 9th week after conception, or week 11 after your last menstrual period (LMP).â
The co-founders of the MYA Network responded in a New York Times article.
Source:Â âMany people, even those who support abortion rights, did not believe the photos were accurate. Some insisted we had deliberately removed the embryos before taking the photos. The images werenât consistent with those often seen in embryological textbooks, magnified on ultrasounds or used in anti-abortion propaganda; these enlarged images are not what you see with the naked eye after an abortion. A Stanford gynecologic pathologist has validated our photos, but many people could not believe the pictures were presented unaltered.
Iâve never seen pictures like this.
group chats and servers scare me so much i will drop in there once every 3 months to show a picture of my cat or a screenshot of a game im playing and then ill disappear from the face of the earth forever
Sorry if i joined your server and then left or stopped talking after 24 hours passed. I scared
Anyway adults saying âI donât know isnât an answerâ is part of the reason I learned to lie and bluff so well.
Really though, what was that about? I donât know is a valid answer. It communicates very clearly that the child cannot answer your question, and therefore maybe needs more help understanding the question/situation. Why do you try and push them to give an answer they donât have? That stresses them out and it makes them feel like theyâre being punished for not knowing something.
i thought i was the only one with an âi donât knowâ problem because my parents made it seem it was the strangest and also most horrible thing in the world. i genuinely didnât know and they got angry and that only blocked my thoughts more which meant i didnât know the answer to anything else.
THIS ^^^
Also âI donât knowâ is a commonly used sentence for children with ADHD/Autism. We DONâT know why we canât do our homework. We DONâT know why we canât eat certain foods sometimes. We DONâT know why we forgot to do a chore. Itâs really distressing when you genuinely donât know and people think youâre just lying or indifferent
