what they are doing in argentina right now is literally an experiment to try and see just how fast and how effectively they can dismantle a country's every single social security, every labor protection, every last market regulation, to install in their place the most brutal and extreme version of neoliberal capitalism possible, while still holding onto a pretense of "democracy". they've spent the last seventy years trying to perfect this formula and i have no doubt that, if it works here, we're gonna spend the next decade seeing the same playbook being used on every country in the global south that has managed to make any kind of progress towards "populism".
