the thing about dean is that he is so so annoying but he would be so much less annoying if they addressed what was making him annoying head on

this is because i just watched freaks and geeks with krissy and on the one hand it’s like oh my god dean shut up about how they can’t hunt because they’re kids you are literally such a hypocrite!!! but like it requires the smallest amount of thought to connect the dots and be like oh dean is so adamant about this because he’s incapable of conceiving of their childhood as being different to his own and he’s trying to save them because deep down he wishes someone had saved him. but do they hint towards or god forbid actually spell that out in the narrative? no. because if you did that then maybe you would unpack dean a little and maybe he would learn a lesson and i guess if you did that every time an episode follows this same structure you would end up with character development spanning across several seasons and maybe reaching a conclusion that would disrupt supernatural’s foundations. also by not addressing it they just make dean bullheaded and voice of the narrative again. and it’s like damn this guy sucks
