won't let fanon Mike die

Honestly the "but Peeta wanted kids so bad" line from the Mockingjay epilogue is really funny to me because for three books Katniss has been projecting her desire for children onto a guy who hasn't really ever verbally expressed any interest in having kids, so I do genuinely think the whole "kids vs. no kids" debate happened entirely internally for Katniss and one day she just went "ok, you win, let's have kids" and Peeta's at the kitchen table like"?????? Ok??????"

the whole debate on who took who’s last name with everlark is lame because a). katniss wouldn’t subvert her own culture and so, if it’s not a district twelve thing for a married couple to take the woman’s last name, if it felt like something from the capitol, she wouldn’t even think of it, b). katniss may be attached to her name since it was her father’s and prim’s (but that’s all headcanons) but she also may repel her own last name because it was the name of the mockingjay which is something she canonically did want distance from, c). also from canon, when they said they were gonna force her to marry peeta in catching fire, she had no concern at all about losing her last name so going based on that, it probably doesn’t matter to her and d). as if peeta or her would really be splitting hairs over what her last name was when they’re just gonna be in district twelve, hanging out with the same people who have known them forever. the only thing that would have everdeen or mellark on it is government mail and i doubt katniss is receiving much of that. if you read any of my fics, neither katniss or peeta care much about if she’s called everdeen or mellark or a hypen of the two.

Just a reminder that Gale’s good looks have to be pointed out to Katniss or are conveyed as a report about what others say about him, but Peeta’s good looks are noticed by her unprompted.
