The Jacobins and the Bolsheviks, here we go again
Suffering and the French Revolution? Did you mean "my life"?
Hey, i've finally passed my exams!
I found out that the Bolsheviks put terror on a daily agenda on the 5th of September
WELL
Is it a coincide or they adored the Jacobins THAT MUCH?
french revolutionary anecdotes
This got long so I put in under the cut. Mostly Robespierre and Desmoulins, because I know the most about those two. This is by no means a complete list. Most of these are pretty well known, and I’m no historian.
(?) indicates I don’t recall a source at the moment, so take those with a grain of salt.

an uni book: Give a short answer. What factors led to Robespierre becoming a dictator?
me: *is writing an 1793-word essay defending jacobin policy in general and Maximilien Robespierre in particular*

me: Lenin compared bolshevism to jacobinism. okay, guy, i get it, you loved Robespierre but that’s too much
also me: *literally call themselves “anarcho-jacobin”*
Well, i’m still trying to make out this topic for my tomorrow class. And you know, IT ISN’T FUNNY ANYMORE. The bolsheviks rly saw themselves as the jacobins, they actually compared the Petrograd workers’ and soldiers’ deputee council to the Paris Commune. THEY CALLED TSAR NIKOLAI II “KING LOUIS”
I kinda don’t like it. Bolshevism isn’t the same as jacobinism but, probably, b/c of this bolsheviks’ obsession, they’re often treated equally as “A Bad Thing” TM. Especially in postsoviet historiography
I’m tired. Lenin isn’t Robespierre. And vise versa

Me, at every uni class: oooh, i’m so bored, when will we study the French Revolution?
Is it just me or does everyone feel a huge breath-taking excitement that rises from the inside out everytime they read about a revolution from the past? I get very emerged in my reading and so interested about all the details. I feel pride, gratitude, amazement, courage when I think about those people and the fact that their lives were literally like that, that’s when they lived, that’s how they lived, that’s how they died or not. It’s absolutely incredible to think how those people shaped the world we live in today and they did it fast. And I’m talking about every liberal revolution, they asked for what we should have today but that’s not always the case. I sometimes wish I could change the world just like that

i got stuck between two options
Soviet heritage
The concept of soviet heritage is not about leftist ideas or social movements. They had existed long before the USSR was established. The Soviets transformed ideas of liberty and equality into a totalitarian state that cultivated fear and denied human basic rights, though. It is still common in post-soviet countries, both in policy and people’s minds. So here it is, sorta artistic reflection
