originally drew this for bastille day, i didn't like it that much, but throwing it here for records
Source: Lucy Worsley’s Royal Myths and Secrets, Marie Antoinette: The Doomed Queen (2020)
One time, I was invited to a going away party thrown for someone I barely knew. A friend of my sister’s.
Or so I thought.
As we are riding over together, my sister admits she doesn’t know the person leaving very well either, but hey, it’s a party, and we were invited!
we show up to the party and it’s a lot of fun! But as we talk to other revelers, most of whom I don’t know, and we break the ice as you do
“How do you know X?”
“Oh, I don’t! See, the thing is-“
Everyone had the same exact story.
“I don’t know her very well, my friend brought me.”
“???” says the friend. “I don’t know them?”
Nobody at this party knew the person the party had been thrown for.
But the person leaving the city did have a roommate, so I figured maybe she was the center of the storm. Nope! She had been told by a mysterious third party also, that there would be a going away party for her roommate, and she just rolled with the punches
I still don’t know how it was pulled off, but it really seems like this one person was leaving the city, they didn’t have any friends here to throw them a party, so she somehow (again I’m foggy on how it was done!) cobbled together a pack of her acquaintances’ acquaintances and managed to have a pretty popping going away party for themselves
Now, I guess I should feel manipulated or exploited but in all honesty
At the time and even now I’m mostly like? That is one of the coolest damn things I’ve ever heard of. I’m sorry they left the city cuz I would’ve loved being friends with someone that cool
We are friends on Facebook and they seem to be living their best life a state over, and good for them. But that has to be one of the weirder parties I went to.
I’m really interested in this museum. One of its exhibition halls displays Marmont’s belongings and most of his portraits. I really wish I could go and see them👀
While browsing web‑based sources, I came across portraits of Marmont’s parents, so I painted a picture of the three‑member family. Marmont actually had a younger sister, but she died at an early age.
I also depicted his wife. I believe she once loved him deeply, yet conflicts later arose between the couple, and they ended up getting divorced.

I’m literally obsessed with Edward VI. I wanna take him to an arcade and let him go wild playing those hunting games or throwing skee balls. Taking out all his fanatic rage.
He’s wearing this and we’re going to Dave & Buster’s, but we have to leave by ten or else he won’t get eight hours of sleep and he’s not over 21.
History is so good for nosy people
Ma boy Saint-Just!! finally had some time to my self, bc I was busy as hell, with applying to collage, and all the other stuff, and as soon I was free I decided to draw ma boy. Haven’t drawn him in a long time, so I really enjoyed drawing him ;p hope you like it!!
Here he is... that beautiful soul.
Why’s everyone mean to me? Can we agree to be nice to me?! For just one day?
Can you agree to be nice to bunniesandbeheadings for 24 hours?
Yes!
No!
Please be nice to me
Thanks :)
Waaaaah
Even though these were the poll results people have not been nice to me!!!!! Be nice to me!!!
Be nice to me!
Okay!!
No I have devoted myself to bad deeds and deviousness
When a bunch of kids gang up on one kid, they are called bullies.
When a bunch of nations gang up on one guy named Napoleon Bonaparte, they are called a coalition.
A rose by any other name would be as sweet. And a bully by any other name is, well, a bully

camille was the living embodiment of fuck this shit i’m out in this film and i’m so here for it
just look at this guy. experiencing the horrors
It's sad the Éléonore x Robespierre romance in Yves de Gaulle's Thermidor (2026) lacks emotional weight, cause the plot is wild and fanfiction-like, but this could have been a tragedy
Robespierre tells her his ennemies are going to assassinate him and then blame him for everything and she goes "let go of that burden, just for a moment" and then they have sex together for the first time ? It's insane, I wanna know what's going on in their heads, not 5 lines of "the sex was good"
I'm okay with the 5 lines of "the sex was good", it's just very "they did it" without the sex bringing any emotional weight to the story or their relationship, and I think sex on 7 Thermidor after 3 years of knowing each other's should ?
I'm okay with it cause the bar is on the floor when it comes to sex with these two. I'm not good a translation, but at least here we get curious Robespierre on a cartography mission discovering "all the creases/folds" of her body so yay foreplay !! and then idk what in the Rousseau is "enjoying together, in harmony, all the possible offered to us by the divine nature of things..." but either they tried different stuff or came together, not sure but it sounds like everyone enjoyed themselves
but seriously what is "all the possible offered to us by the divine nature of things" and why does it sounds like something Rousseau would say
A painting of Christine Böhm as Marie Antoinette, made for the Jacques Demy film 'Lady Oscar' (1979); set to be auctioned by Maître Christophe Lucien.
To publish the Works of Robespierre is to rehabilitate a name around which so many unjust prejudices have gathered; it is, at the same time, to provide the people with an abundant source of enlightenment and instruction. How many men who have never so much as glanced at Robespierre’s writings or speeches are convinced, on the authority of the aristocracy’s paid writers, that Robespierre was a villain. Let them read his works, and they will arrive at a fairer judgement of his feelings and his heart.
Robespierre’s works are the best answer to the frenzied declamations of his equally frenzied detractors. To slander, insult and shriek is not to reason. Those who, for want of better arguments, heap insult upon slander against a man prove one thing: that there is not a single fact in that man’s life which might support a reasonable and conscientious attack upon him.
Did Robespierre err? That is what I shall examine in the historical notice with which I shall preface his works. But it is above all through those works themselves, by reading and reflecting upon them, that one may become convinced that Robespierre was cruelly slandered. It is by closely examining his conduct and his political actions from 1789 until 9 Thermidor that one will recognise in him the purest defender of the rights of humanity.
Whoever reads Robespierre is inwardly consumed by a more ardent love of country and liberty, and by a deeper hatred of the tyrants who crush humankind. Whoever reads him sees a new universe unfolding before his eyes. He feels, touches and understands his rights; he identifies himself with them; he becomes worthy of the noble name of man, worthy of the great title of citizen.
As it turns out, there was such a thing as Culturally/Politically Topical Embroidery on Men’s Waistcoats. It started post-1783, but, for obvious reasons, gained steam post-1789. Some had a bust of Rousseau (or Voltaire, depending on which side in that particular argumentative fandom one took) embroidered on theirs, some had scenes from the theatrical comedies they liked, some had symbols of the unity of three estates of the nation against the royal despotism, such as the episcopal crook, the sword, and the spade bundled together in a sheaf.
Some just went for slogans, such as “vaincre ou mourir” (victory or death).
The decline and fall of this fashion craze came in about 1792, when the Journal de la mode et du goût reported men's waistcoats had become almost universally red ("gilets presque tous rouges"), and that the journal had virtually stopped describing men's fashion because it had ceased to change.
Which is a shame. I vote to bring politically snarky waistcoats back.

This napoleon is such a good boy! He cleaned his plate! And I’m always saying, Napoleons are pretty intelligent creatures. This one even figured out silverware!
// also as I was taking this photo I had a haunting thought. What if a murder had been happening right in the across window and this exact photo of the good napoleon was used in a court case. I came up with a whole phoenix wright plot.
