A song that has found resurgence in my playlists recently. I have always adored this song — especially this version with the soft, dreamy, and wistful piano intro that paints a picture of a butterfly drifting away.
Sometimes we experience events in life that make us appreciate art we have always loved in a much deeper level. This song is the one for me at the moment.
The quiet devastation in this lyric: "Will you stop time if this moment passes? Although it hasn't happened, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared I'll lose you." I never thought I'd relate to this in my lifetime. But what a privilege it is to love and care this deeply.
So deeply that I have returned to this account and started writing again. Its truly a blessing and a curse. To live is to feel, to love is to feel. So I wrote about it:
They say time is gold. Time is ephemeral. A concept I don’t even think our human minds and hearts were made to grasp. How can they say that time is gold, when its passing feels like complete torture?
Time is indeed, ephemeral. Trembling, I hold on to memories like holding on to a butterfly cupped in my hands. I'm aware how delicate they are, afraid that if I hold on too tightly they will break, and afraid that if I let go, they might disappear into the golden light, leaving only warmth behind.
Time is ephemeral. I appreciate the beauty of the moments in between – sunlight filtering through leaves of trees, and the ache that lingers after it is gone.
Like a butterfly drifting through dappled sunlight, I watch it pass.
Is this why I was irrationally afraid of butterflies growing up?
