I slept in, I've been tired lately.

I repaired the lawn mower and mowed the grass.

My older child and his partner came over for brunch.

I got a nap.

Miss P made apple cinnamon desert.

My younger child called just to say hi.

I went to get a pizza and stopped by the grocery store.

I felt really good about myself and how the day was going.

When I was leaving the store a song came on the radio.

Full stop!

The song was "constant craving" by K D Lang. You don't understand how much the albums "ingenue" and "all you can eat" meant to me. They literally kept me going at some of the lowest points in my life.

K D Lang was my someday. Today someday came.

I'm still riding high on those feelings.

Welcome to someday, it feels good.

Miss P and I went to a benefit today. One of the kids friends needs surgery to save her vision. So we went and gave what we could.

...we were always the volunteer parents. Our kids were involved in everything, so we did whatever we could to support them. Along the way we met and befriended many of their friends and families. Now that they are adults we are still friends.

The benefit was at the local LGBT+ bar. Many of the kids friends were there. I kinda stayed in the background when they were younger. For many of them today was the first time they were able to meet the real me.

All kinds of people were there. I felt totally comfortable. We had a good time. I think today was the first time I felt like I really made it. I mean like all the way made it.

....I will be 60 this fall. It took me a lifetime to get here. I've never been more at peace than in this moment. I just want it to last forever.

I know that for many of you that are reading this changing jobs is nothing new. So I think you can understand the boost in self worth that comes from living an authentic life. It seems that I'm in the same place.

I kinda like it. Miss P thinks I look like a librarian.

They treat me like crap, I get upset and threaten to quit. Then I go home and cry myself to sleep. The next day the boss is extra nice and everyone tries to make it up to me. I start to feel better. Everything is ok for a bit and then....BOOM!

And the whole cycle starts again.

They just can't wrap their heads around having a transgender coworker in rural Illinois. They welcome my knowledge and experience, until it looks like the trans woman knows more or is better than them. That's when they get weird. One of my female coworkers said welcome to womanhood, this is what you fought for.

Things went off the rails at work. A disgruntled coworker rolled on our boss at the company Christmas party in front of the district supervisor. He made several accusations, some true, some not. Some of them involved other coworkers. Before the night was over everyone involved had formed a circular firing squad.

Heads rolled.

And then, I was promoted! I am now the senior representative on site and in charge of training.

Just, wow.

My boss, who was hesitant when he took over 2 years ago is now my biggest ally. He really needs me to do my magic for him. This is the glass ceiling for trans people. Next step is middle management. I WILL get there!
