on that note i see a lot of posts that are like "x character would never have done that to jay nakamura..." and then like 30% of the time its correct, usually when someone names a milestone character, but 70% of the time its like. not only would they have done that to jay they wouldve been like... way worse actually. like they wouldve made jon look forgivable

will say that even though i fully 100% agree that jay is the most interesting hes ever been now that hes gone through his arc, it is a little depressing that characters of color have to suffer so much for dc fandom to consider them worthy of attention, meanwhile if a character is introduced and happens to be white, they'll be assumed by default to be secretly interesting before they've even done anything.

Whenever someone says Jay "doesn't do anything!" I know their only information on the comics are from damijons. You can absolutely hate SOKE as a story or as a plotline for Jon but saying that Jay doesn't do anything is just lying lmao

You're celebrating the jayjon break up because you're still hung up on the mediocrity that is Supersons and the least interesting version of Jon that existed. I'm celebrating the jayjon breakup because it puts them both in the position to have really amazing character arcs and have Jon grapple with the fact that being unable to fully shed the American conservative mentality that dominated his early existence has now cost him the love of his life. We are not the same.
