Why do European Sports Fans think/imply they have to be the most suffering of suffering people???

It's so maddening and confusing as hell

So the US is hosting the World Cup, which is tragic (imo, since Soccer/Football isn't anywhere NEAR as important to us/our culture as other nations- least of all with what's Going On Currently and all) and many teams have posted from their personal Social Media accounts how they're struggling to adjust to the heat here. They're commenting on the HUMIDITY, how it just sticks to you and makes it worse, how that humidity is causing them to sweat within minutes of going outside despite being in very appropriate clothing for said heat. They're making NO comments on "which is the worst" or "who has it worst", they're just commenting on being surprised at how bad it is already, how they're not adjusting super fast or anything - they're not making it a competition, they're sharing their struggles and shit and it's genuinely not that deep

And Americans are making light of it in the comments because it's Early Summer and we haven't even seen the Hot Times yet, so to us this is just a precursor to the Hell awaiting in July and August that comes yearly-- and Americans are like "this isn't even the worst of it!" Or "South American and African teams may have this one won, then!" , basically commenting that people from more similar climates are gonna do fine and doing the same type of banter between American Football teams we throw around

So I can see getting a bit butthurt over Americans basically being Little Shits going "we told you so", "we know!!! we've been saying our heat is awful this whole time!!!"

But like... in each of these comment sections, it is FLOODED with Europeans being like "Um!! Actually!! We have it WORSE, so Our Team can handle it, America's not special.", bragging about how hot and humid Germany or France or Italy or Spain gets in the summertime - LIKE WHY IS THAT YOUR BRAG???? We're COMPLAINING about having 90% humidity on a 31°C (87/88°F) day, not bragging about it???????

Like???? Number One, literally nobody was turning it into a "whoever has hottest weather is specialest" contest, so what the fuck is wrong with you there- but also, you're hearing it from these Football guys themselves. Like, THE TEAM MEMBERS ARE THE OPs. THEY'RE TELLING YOU, THEMSELVES, THAT THEY WEREN'T PREPARED FOR IT, THAT ITS MUCH HOTTER THAN THEY EXPECTED AND THEY AREN'T ADJUSTING QUICKLY AS A RESULT. That's not a good thing, that's not something to be ignored, and yet these commenters just keep insisting that there will be No Problem and all because They Have It Worse In Summertime or whatever

Professionals, whose entire jobs revolve around their ability to play sports outdoors in Many Different Climates, are telling you FROM THEIR OWN MOUTHS that the adjustment isn't going well, and you're???? Taking it so weirdly personally????? I'm so confused

(Just saw one of the Brits posting from Kansas City about the humidity and he came outside "5 minutes ago" (according to his video) in shorts and breathable sportswear and he was Already Sweating and said the humidity just "sticks to you"- and, again, his comment section was FLOODED with comments like these)(there's the pictures of the Norwegian team struggling, a video from one of the Germans- like???)(why does everything have to be a competition where the Europeans have it Worse??? If ANYTHING, y'all should be using this as a reason your teams won't be at 100%??? Not just blindly insisting that they'll be Perfect on Game Day because it's somehow worse back home or whatever)

Should also say that the first Heat Advisory for the year isn't even until tomorrow (9 June, 2026- specific for Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee areas)(it's a high temp of ~92° , with a low temp of ~75°, and a humidity of ~85% -- the Heat Index / Feels Like temp will be ~107°)(tildes because it's like a 1-3° difference depending on where in these areas you'll be at)(in Celsius, that's a High of 33°, a Low of 23°, and a Heat Index/Feels Like of 41.5/42°)

(pointing this out not to be like "here's the stats for why we have it worse", it's literally to show y'all up front that THIS is the heat they're talking about. You can imagine, think of it yourself, and realize how bad it'll be for them without turning it into a competition??? Even if it IS worse elsewhere or back home, you can admit up front that that's awful heat for them to have to play in without turning it into a Suffering Competition???)

Again, the Team Members posting about it aren't making it a competition. The Americans are making light of it because we laugh off our own complaints about the summer heat here, but that isn't translating well. I can see that part clearly, and that's not my confusion.

Even if they're offended by Americans laughing it off or making little jokes/jabs (the way we do with our own Sports Teams here)-- why turn it into a competition over who has it worse? Why try to force themselves to seeming like the most Suffering of Suffering People?? Why try to One-Up someone else's suffering just because they read it as though it was implying nobody else had it hard, or heard it as though OPs were implying that this is the Worst they've experienced?

Maybe it's my autistic ass not understanding why everything must be the suffering olympics, but it's just confusing as hell
