Hey Guys! This week I have a cool tutorial on how to properly attack a whoop section on a motocross track. I have included 4 photos that pertain to the 4 key points in successfully completing a whoop section. This is not something that you will necessarily get the first time, but if you practice enough and remember these techniques you will be screaming through the whoops in no time!
The First step is to enter the section with authority and speed. You cannot be afraid or hesitant at this point because it is what sets the pace for the whole section. It is also nice to come in with the front wheel of the ground, so your rear shock can take the majority of the hit from the first bump.
Once you have entered the whoops you want to keep a solid attack position on the bike. As you can see in the second photo the rider has his elbows out and its planted nicely on the bike.
Once you are into the section and hitting the bumps you want to try to keep your front wheel up to manual through the whole section. Hitting each bump with only 1 wheel rather then 2 with save you time and energy.
Towards the end of the section your front wheel will want to come down and this is where you really have to lean off of the back of the bike and hammer the throttle. This is the point that will really make or brake your whoop section. At this point you can start to swap out and lose control, but staying on the gas will normally straighten you out and get you through the rest of the section.
