this is Kozue Miki, my newest, simplest, and probably final version of a YuGiOh fancharacter i've had forever!
a long time ago, she was a weird feral child who was redesigned as an ancient spirit trying to get Atem a body, and her next redesign was a biker that Marik fell in love with. she went through many different types of character, and honestly i love them all, but they just never worked, especially when i fell out of YGO as i got older. i have remade her entirely again, keeping only her skin, hair, and eye color the same, as always. all her different incarnations have lended pieces to this version.
she's an artist and dresses mainly for comfort, tries her best to hide or get rid of paint stiains, and always has her messy hair back in a braid. her very core is art, with her only other passion being gardening, which she picked up as a very young girl - courtesy of her previous wild-child incarnation.
she has a very comfortable, simple adult life. Miki is probably the most feminine character i've ever made, despite her clothing choices. as an adult, she's not nearly as brash or intense as any of my other OCs or fancharacters. she's a caretaker; very motherly and rational, and she only gets riled up when she's worried. she does have a huge streak of stubbornness though, and she's a bit quick to judge at times, but it's mostly out of protectiveness and her self-made position as 'unshakeable rock' for others. it's very rare that anyone needs to be her rock. but when the time comes, it's usually because of her past cropping up; she was very different when she was younger and learned a lot of tough lessons. i kept her biker persona for her teenage years, and it definitely impacts her character as an adult.
she grew up with poor, negligent parents, and had no ambition or path. the only things at home that brought her any relief from loneliness were her sketchbooks and her garden. she grew flowers and a lot of edible plants she learned about in school. school life in general was a bit lonely too, she didn't make friends easily as they couldn't relate to her fantasy brand of creativity. communication skills were very difficult for her as a child; she was confident and bright, but unable to connect. she'd spend her time doodling on things, and as she got older she'd tag things with wild, artistic graffiti. in her teens she got a motor bike and ran with a small gang of misfits like herself. a few of them were younger, and she developed her mothering self through them. protecting them ended up being her top priority. the group didn't do too much bad shit, mostly vandalism and disturbing the peace, a few petty thefts and whatnot. but a few members started going down a darker pah, so she and the younger kids left; it was a lot messier and more dangerous than she thought, but she managed to break away clean and most of the kids did too. the ones who didn't gave her a complex she will likely never lose.
back to her current self, after she broke away from her hoodlum tendencies and put herself through a crash course in art, she became a very talented and prominent member of the game art community. one of the kids from her old gang was an avid gamer and duelist, so thanks to her interest in fantasy art, she got some work through his contacts that pushed her through without much difficulty. her skill won her a spot with Industrial Illusions and she drew a few of the cards before other game industries became interested in her as well. she is still an on-call artist with II, but she works with many others as Pegasus is the primary artist, making the position unstable.
her story starts after all the to-do of the OG YGO story, and we are cutting out the rest of YGO pretty hardcore here. i don't connect with them XD after Atem leaves, that's canon end to me. so anyway, set this with the characters all in their twenties and leaving universities for careers or whatever they do, i haven't mashed all that out yet. Suguroku is having trouble keeping up the shop by himself while the rest of them are out doing stuff, so he puts out a hiring notice. Miki, being a little bored at home during a lull in business, answers the call and ends up working at Kame Game part time. she meets the rest of them from there and, because i am an incorrigible shipper, she ends up getting with Jonouchi cause he's bae as hell and she's low-key a self insert of my ideal self. the rest, well, i haven't figured out a plot just yet. ah well!
redid my pokemon trainer, and i renamed her Echevaria! she's the little sister of Hazel, my gym leader. they both specialize in grass types, and Hazel hopes that she'll take over the gym someday. but Echevaria doesn't think about it much, she just likes wandering and sleeping in dirt. she sort of drifts around with her pokemon, indulging in the world. Hazel lets her; they love each other very much despite having vastly different lifestyles.
Last week of Inktober! Had a lot of trouble this time, and I even missed the last day. By the time I realized it, I was devastated...but I decided to just move on! I have to focus on a lot right now, I have some personal projects that need attention and I'm getting myself ready to go back to school. Getting a degree this time! If math doesn't destroy me anyway...^^; But overall, Inktober was fun! If I can, I'd like to do it again next year!

Week 3 of inktober! I'm sorry the colors are all weird and stuff, I only have my phone for photos and I have different lights and times of day all over this venture. My Patronus and House up there is so nice, I'm so proud of it, but I could not for the life of me take a proper picture! Ah well. Life is good and full of monster smoochin'.
Week 2 of inktober! Got some fancy new pens partway through, I hope I can get some money coming in to buy more. My DnD baby up there is my favorite one I've done all month, look at that little shit. My beautiful child.
Hereās the first week of inktober! Ink is very difficult for me, Iām much more used to digitalā¦but Iām having a lot of fun, even though Iām making mistakes! Iām usually such a wet blanket about mistakes, haha. And maybe itās cheaing to use color pencil as well, but oh well. Iām having a good time! i just realized i've been posting all my art on instagram! i totally forgot about updating here! life has been a bit tumultuous as usual, but at least now it's in a better way, haha. i am much happier, i'm in such a good place, i'm with someone i love dearly and even my mental health is starting to improve. SO ANYWAY!! later today, after i finish a few dailies and shower and whatnot, i'll be updating with inktober photosets :D i'm glad i finally decided to participate this year! look forward to it ;)
