This is like a direct response to half of Tumblr.
Not all relationships have to be romantic. Being close to someone doesn’t mean you are in love with them. Platonic friendships can be just as strong and wonderful as romantic ones.
Sweet Jesus there’s a lot to unpack here. Okay let me start off by saying I’m 100% supportive of men being more affectionate and caring for each other in their platonic relationships. It’s frankly something that this society desperately needs. HOWEVER I take serious issue with shadowsmiths comment. One that maaaaany people in the notes seem to be latching onto. If a man is afraid to be affectionate with his male friends because he might be assumed to be gay, then the problem is really the homophobic heteronormative society we are living in. Furthermore they themselves are exhibiting homophobia, against themselves ironically. I’m very lucky to know some really sweet, kind, and caring straight men. Who are as affectionate with their queer friends as they are with their straight friends. You know what they all have in common? None of them care if people think they’re gay. Because if they did, they’d be trapped and wouldn’t show their sensitive nature. Making assumptions about people is silly, rude, and usually a waste of time, but it’s also human nature. People make assumptions about you everyday, that you may or may not hear, and none of them matter. They often don’t effect you in any way. So why should it matter if someone mistakes your sexuality? If it does matter it’s not the issue of the assumer, but the issue of your internalized shame. And if you’re afraid of being attacked over that assumption then you need to ask yourself what you can do to fight homophobia in society. Spoiler Alert: The answer is to continue to openly be a sensitive caring straight man, as well as being outspoken as to why it’s ok. Just as it’s the responsibility of white people to fight white supremacy and racism, it is also the responsibility of cis/het people to fight homophobia and transphobia. You’re worried about experiencing homophobia because you love your bro? Then do something about it!
TL/DR: Yes we should support loving same sex platonic relationships, but men being afraid of being assumed gay for being affectionate is the fault of a homophobic society, not the fault of those making the assumption.
P.S. This may be a hot take that some of you aren’t ready for, but all of this could be solved if we as a people acknowledged that heterosexuality and homosexuality don’t actually exist.

I did okay majoring in Political Science and American Government in undergrad though. I graduated summa cum laude so I figure I must have learned something?
Law school also went alright I guess? I did somehow manage to get an article about the constitutionality and modification of excessive force laws through out the 50 states placed in a national publication. And I also managed to pass the Bar Exam.
But yeah it’s totally possible I failed 9th grade social studies tbh. I was a little shit when I was 15 and gave no fucks.

I believe this is from Ghost Stories. The series didn’t do too well in Japan, so when it was translated and dubbed in English, the VA studio was given a rough outline of the plot and were told to do ‘whatever’.
