Oh, I finally posted a very big fanfiction on AO3 about how Nathaniel got stuck in a time loop. I don't know how much you can read it through a translator, but I'm happy to bring this story to fandom.

This edith is based on this fanfiction. Nathaniel is being chased by an assassin, but magic does not help and Nathaniel has to defend himself with his own strength.

The Resistence tries so hard to be a rebellion but their results are more nuisances than anything else. Yes, the magicians are trying to catch and stop them, they arent stupid and they can see the writing in the wall. But Johns drive to find them is more because of his personal beef with Kitty than anything else. And because he wants to do an Important Job and establish himself as an Important Magician.

Jakob though. Jakob hits them where it hurts. He ruins Tallows reputation and self-esteem with whatever he changed in his books that resulted in the nice, yellow skintone. And then he laid the froundwork for the spirit he was summoning to kill him.

Jakob was directly responsible for the death of a fairly high up magician. And with the public way that it happened, he forced the surrounding magicians to remember that they put their life on the line everytime they summoned a spirit and forced their wills on them.

I think there comes a point in every magicians life -especially the really powerful and arrogant ones- where dealing with spirits becomes such a routine that the threat of death by spirit becomes a distant, theoretical threat rather than an immediate one. And they forget that without their pretty words and lines on the ground, they are utterly powerless against their slave.

Jakob essentially dumped a bucket of ice cold water over their heads. What was John thinking, turning his head from where Tallows had stood a second ago and back to Bart?
