-Have the best underground Robot Wars team in South London

-Have competitions like “who can dismantle and reassemble a pistol the quickest?” The winner gets a reward of their choosing. Sometimes it’s picking where they eat, what movie to watch, etc.

-They have a dog together, an ex military dog that didn’t quite make the cut. Mike relates to that a lot, and has long conversations with them about it. The dog, not Dexter. He talks to animals a lot.

Danny wants to be good at his job, he cares about people and he wants to do the right thing. He can be a little lazy at times, as shown by the state of his cottage, but overall he works hard and he has a good heart. He’s learnt deeper social responsibility besides basic empathy from Nicholas, shown when he calls out casual sexism at the end of the movie for example. I think Ed would find this irritating and “boring”.

Ed says some questionable things that I think would make Danny uncomfortable, like the slurs and the insensitive comments, and he’s too lazy and irresponsible to brush it off as a character quirk, as shown by his unemployment and actions in the movie, particularly when his phone rings outside of the Winchester and when he tries to play on the fruit machine when they’re surrounded by zombies.

Despite that, I think they’d talk at the pub, and maybe watch the odd movie together. Ed would find Danny fun until he inevitably tells him not to say something offensive, and then the mood of the casual hang out would be brought down slightly. I think Danny would also be irritated at some of Ed’s actions, like not taking on adult responsibilities, like cleaning up after himself or attempting to get a job.

They’d make good drinking buddies if they never had any deeper conversations than that, and I think the way Ed interacts with Barbra would appeal to Danny as proving he has manners and good etiquette when strictly necessary, despite the fact this comes around very rarely. Ed is also loyal, staying by his friend’s sides no matter what, even if he can be a bit of an arse, and I think that this fierce loyalty would compliment Danny’s similar traits perfectly. Danny was willing to die for Nicholas, he took a bullet for him. Ed was willing to be eaten alive by zombies so Shaun and Liz could use the bullet.

Fun fact: I have a ginger (ish) cat called Magnus, which seems quite on-theme.
