Been a while since I've updated anything on this. Well here's why - here is a short reel highlighting some of the work I've done within the last year. Looking forward to a more exciting 2014-2015 season.
Breakdowns to come later.
Behind the Scenes of the Amanda & the Guardian instagram-style teaser.
Originally, we were just supposed to edit in the unfinished green screen versions of the film but then decided to comp everything which led to 10 short sequences comped in just about 2 hours! That was quite the rush - haha.
Watch it below or click here.
Here's an instagram-style teaser I just finished for our upcoming film.

Here are the process views for the shieldsite.net motion graphics opening.
As previously mentioned, simple geometry with basic control rigs and clean lighting setup (Maya + Mental Ray) to achieve the high-tech look and feel of the ABC's upcoming series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. HUD "projection" and light effects were done in After Effects.
Refer to my previous post for the preview video.
Check out these opening (and closing) motion graphics and lower thirds I just finished for KSiteTV's shieldsite.net dedicated to ABC's upcoming series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I'm actually really happy with how the 3D turned out. It was pretty simple yet effective in achieving the look and feel I wanted for the intro. Better yet, texturing was minimal as the materials and lighting did all the heavy lifting. The lens flare definitely adds a perfect little touch.

Stereoscopic R&D render for "Under the Sky"
More stereoscopic R&D renders - this time one for the SKYWORLD - 'Under the Sky' series. Still have a bit to go before I'm ready to render out the full scene sequence(s).
Also, apart from of course, passive or active 3D systems, one of the better ways to see these renders are with the NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses. They give a much more genuine (anaglyphic) 3D experience compared to the cheaper cardboard cutout glasses - if you can find them that is.

Stereoscopics renders
Wow - it's certainly been a while since I've been able to post "new" material on here! I've just been really busy. Since October, I've been working over at Legend3D as a Stereoscopic Compositor on a number of upcoming 3D (stereoscopic) feature films and hence began my true appreciation for the third dimension.
Now with every new (and currently ongoing) project(s) comes the added weight of putting them in stereo to add that extra dimension. Since not everyone's sitting around at home with super cool passive Real3D monitors just yet, anaglypic (red/blue) will do for now.
See my first stereo render test from Maya below with some process screen shots. Up next 2D-3D footage conversion tests.

In progress development of "The Bunker" for an upcoming website. More to come in a few!
Finally! Here's part 1 of one of my current CG/VFX development projects, SKYWORLD: Under the Sky.
Modeling, shading, rigging, and animation were done in Maya. All textures were custom painted in Mudbox and then rendered out with Mental Ray and the software render for certain passes. Composited in Nuke. Additional rigging on the flying stingray by Kevin Yee.
*Watch it on vimeo for a larger view.
Stay tuned for part 2.

Mental Ray material test render of the bioluminescent fungi for "Under the Sky." I wish there was an actual way to layer Mental Ray shaders like you can with regular Maya materials. I suppose for now, I'll be rendering out a separate version/pass with the bioluminescent effects and just take care of them in compositing.
