In this article I will describe some common approaches to reporting and analytics.
The Most Frequent Emoji
The Unicode Consortium has released the most popularly used emoji for the first time ever. In order tot produce this list, the rankings were based on āmedian frequency across multiple sources.ā Characters that come with varying skin tones and genders were counted together, and newer emoji didnāt rank highly since they take time to roll out to every platform.

The problem with this visual to begin with is that there are too many segments (I counted around 75) to show. No graph or chart can handle that many data points. The result would be āchart migraineā.
So my first action would be to limit the visual to lets say the top 10 emojiās.
Now we have to visualize only 7-8 segments.
Keep in mind that a pie chart for 7-8 segments is still a bad choice! Limit the slices to three!
Better options than pie charts are:
Bar Chart
Stacked Bar chart
Area chart
Treemap chart

Marketers are creative people. This sounds like a general truth, right? However, my experience shows that sometimes the creative part of marketing (or an excess of it) can do more harm than good.
