IâM LIVING SIS
Things they don't tell you about being a first time wheelchair user in highschool
Literally everyone will ask if you broke your leg(s). Everyone. Even people you donât know. Theyll ask a lot and think youâre extremely fragile.
bruises show up within the first day of rolling around, and they can really suck
people will try to grab your chair if they think youâre struggling and it can be hard not to snap at them for it
static electricity is a huge issue. You will probably either continuously shock your leg when youâre rolling around or do what I did today and zap someone so hard as you pass that both of you nearly keel over
people will call you out as a faker if you do anything even remotely fun ever on your wheelchair. Wheelies? Obviously your legs are fine lol not like you have to go down fucking curbs /s
puddles are the worst and if thereâs a curb with a puddle all around and you have some ability to walk its a better idea to just stand up and navigate the chair than to fall backwards into said puddle
weird looks from people are inevitable, especially from people who donât like you
bus drivers will often push your chair and give you advise you donât want to hear, even if you tell them nicely you can push yourself. Its really hard not to get mad at them for it
no wheelies in school. Though if you do it in the elevator when no one else is with you you canât really get caught.
speaking of wheelies, always be ready to throw at least one arm behind you in case you fall. They say tuck your chin in but its easier and more reliable to throw your hands back and keep your neck up so you donât hit the floor. Sore arms are way easier to put up with than head injuries
donât even bother to try and roll back up curbs. You will either be there for an hour or fall backwards. I managed to do both.
90% of classrooms that arenât special ed are not very wheelchair accessible.
people will automatically assume youâre faking something if youâre not considered dumb enough in their standards to fit in with disabled students (aka high class ableism at its finest)
people are going to give you weird looks if you donât suddenly start sitting with the other disabled kids
standard backpacks usually dangle way too much to keep on you easily, so try to pack light
built in storage on wheelchairs cannot sufficiently carry books
donât try to hold an umbrella. Period. Especially not with your teeth. It doesnât work.
donât try to give the bus driver your ticket while youâre stuck on the ramp. And speaking of, its easy to start falling down the bus ramp so be careful, and when in doubt throw on the breaks
and finally if youâre like me pray to god you donât go nonverbal when someone is trying to push you and you donât want them to because it is hard to get them to stop if you canât speak
able-bodied people can and should 1000% reblog this, some of these things Iâve seen on tips about using a wheelchair but a lot of these werenât things Iâve seen
DONâT USE BOTS TO FIGHT FOR NET NEUTRALITY!
The FCC have already disregarded millions of emails in suspect of sent by fake bot accounts. If you want to fight, you need to call or message the FCC and your Senators yourself!

Mike O'Rielly - [email protected]Â 301-657-9092
Brendan Carr - [email protected] 202-719-7305
Look up and contact your Senators and inform them why you donât want Net Neutrality repealed.
And to anyone OUTSIDE the US, Tell your US friends and followers to fight this, but DONâT get involved yourself! They wonât listen to anyone whoâs not a US citizen.
We have until DECEMBER 14TH, 2017 before the final vote goes through!

âYou can criticize something you love!â
Yeah, and you can also get tired of criticizing something you love. You can get completely fed up with it and decide, âYou know what? Flaws aside, I love this thing, and I donât have to waste hours of my life admitting its flaws to strangers on the Internet in order to somehow justify my love of it.â You can get sick of watching others gleefully tear it apart, for no reason other than that itâs popular and they hate that you love it. You can get sick of watching others tearing it apart with good intentions, too.
In the end, itâs just a cartoon, or a book, or a movie. Itâs not that serious, and you can enjoy it without hyper-focusing on its flaws. You donât need to justify your love of something to someone else, least of all a person you donât even know.
what is it about capybaras that attracts groups of small animals to them? Its not just mammals either its like birds and turtles and frogs too
look at this shit
They radiate peace
capybaras are friend shaped
I love this post
This is actually a cool thing I know about!
In the wild capybaras live in large groups so naturally a female capybara will take care of not only her own offspring, but all of the other offspring in the group. So capybaras are super great mothers who will adopt pretty much anything and take care of it.
Lots of places that rescue different animals will give a group of baby animals to a capybara to raise if they have one.
Like puppies
Ducks
Deer
Emus
They are just super calm animals so theyâre naturally great at mothering or just existing in a group!

Note to my ex.
Today my professor told me every cell in our entire body is destroyed and replaced every seven years. How comforting it is to know that one day I will have a body that you will have never touched.
This just made me feel so warm.
thank you.
Important especially for victims of abuse, remember your body is yours and it heals in more ways than you realize.
Okay, so I just want to say that this isnât necessarily true. Most of your cells have died and regrown several times in seven years, but some havenât, and some have died and wonât return. The seven year cell renewal is a myth perpetuated by popsci in magazines everywhere.
That being said, anywhere they may have touched you, your skin, your hair, your nails and so on, was changing the moment they departed your life, even before that. Your skin became skin theyâve never touched within 27 days. Your hair grows (on average) six inches per year, so depending on how long yours is, you were rid of their touch there within a few years tops. Your nails will completely regrow within six months tops. You were a body they never touched within three or four years. You will be a body they never touched within three or four years.
You have been rewriting your body, you are your own, you are constantly changing, and you are the only one who owns your body 100% of the time.
Iâm here for correcting science myths in supportive ways.

The Net Neutrality issue summarized
You (or your parents) pay approx $40-$100 or higher for internet.Â
So that you can all use youtube, google, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, etc. etc. etc. This isnât limited to social media. Â
Net neutrality says, âOkay, since you already paid x amount of money for the month, you donât have to pay for each asset individually. Enjoy your internet.â NO net neutrality means that your service provider (comcast, at&t, verizon, whatever it may be) gets to say âACTUALLY, it lines our pockets so give us an extra $5.99 for Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. Oh, but that doesnât include Tumblr; that comes with our premium package. Thatâll be $5.99 on its own as well. Now about your Google docs and emailâŚÂ
Thatâs why itâs important. Thatâs why Iâm spamming Net Neutrality crap. If youâre using the internet, itâs YOUR problem.Â
-Email your congressman (text resist to 50409) Itâs easy, you donât have to talk to anyone.Â
-Tweet the FCC. https://twitter.com/FCC
-Tweet THIS guy. https://twitter.com/AjitPaiFCC
-CALL. https://www.battleforthenet.com/
-This site does the heavy lifting for you.
-Sign this. Â

-Email your congressmen (thatâs what Iâm doing)Â https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
-Swim the #NetNeutrality tag on Twitter. Seriously, itâs helpful.Â
And lastly, GET THIS TRENDING. Itâs trending on Twitter but it needs to trend here too. This is everyoneâs issue.Â
i am very adamant that elves are far less restrictive about gender and relationships than humans
this post cost me a follower. good. reblog for non-binary polyamorous elves. ignore for cisheteronormativity.
Ok but can we talk about how emo, as a genre, defied gender roles in a big way? Like, everything about the culture, from the guys wearing makeup and womensâ skinny jeans, to the way they got unabashedly emotional in spite of the âmen arenât supposed to cryâ narrative theyâd obviously been socialized with, was just this complete âfuck youâ to the idea that thereâs a certain way to be a âmanâ.Â
And a lot of their detractors called them âgirlyâ or âgayâ. And they didnât give a fuck! Fall Out Boy has a whole song entitled âGay Is Not A Synonym for Shittyâ, which referenced a famous Pete Wentz quote, where he basically said that if you thought his band sucked, to just say it sucked, and not be a âhomophobic assholeâ about it.Â
And, then, geez, My Chemical Romance took it a step further, and Gerard Way outright kissed one of his bandmates at concerts purely to infuriate homophobes who were at his shows.
A lot of these bands were openly for LGBT rights, for womensâ rights. I remember one instance where some band MCR was touring with asked women to flash their tits in exchange for backstage passes. And Gerard was so horrified by this, and told his female fans to âspit in the facesâ of misogynists in the rock scene.Â
Like, god, these bands were so progressive. And they still are. Right after the Pulse tragedy, Brendon Urie literally danced around in a pride flag and told his queer fans what they meant to him. Pete Wentz said that âUma Thurmanâ was meant to show his female fans that they could be âbadassâ, too. And Gerard pretty much admitted in an interview to somewhat identifying with the label ânonbinaryâ.Â
Thatâs the most lasting impact that emo is going to have. Showing fans of all genders that thereâs nothing wrong with being whoever the fuck you are, that thereâs no specific way to be a man or woman. And, god, I just fucking love that.Â

âSo every day during my set, when Iâm playing my own shows, I talk about people that are transgender. I talk about it a lot because everyday basically I say: âŚâ
- Gerard Way, Soundwave, Melbourne, 2015
Source
I feel like disco and emo should team up and that should be the next big music thing, sort of a defiant apocalyptic dance party, because disco did this sort of thing too, the rejection of straight white male heteronormativity, and that was basically why it was killed, so, like, emo plus defiant zombie disco would be the perfect thing to play in the Mango Menace era.
I love meta posts like these bc now i understand why my diehard defiant teenage ass was in love with these bands and this culture

I am really tired yall.
Lemme just preface this with saying that I am a writer. I have been writing for most of my life. I have taken actual classes about writing and about what fiction can offer you, me, and people as a whole. I have won an award for something that I wrote. I know and love fiction, be it in written form, graphic novels, or film. It is all so good and complex and itâs something I am passionate about. That said, letâs get into this.
A good majority of the discourse that goes on in most of the fandoms Iâm in stem from the idea that violence and forbidden sexual acts in fiction will encourage those actions in reality. It is important to know, firstly, that the only time this happens is when a person is immature enough or not mentally healthy enough to distinguish reality from fiction. Growing up, my parents would often stop horror movies (back when I first started watching them) to ask me questions. To be fair, they were pretty shitty people, but in this one aspect, they were so good about making sure I knew this difference. âYou know this is just a movie, right? None of the stuff on the tv is real.â Theyâd assure before continuing the film.
Itâs not real.
Now, half of the stuff I read or watched back then was nowhere near pushing boundaries or making me think critically about society or whatever. However, I knew that what I watched wasnât real. It was images on a screen. If I donât like what Iâm seeing, I can walk away. It doesnât have to affect me, personally, unless I let it.
Now, lets circle back. School. College. I took a writing class that used this book:
Granted, it was a screenwriting class and most of the chapters were about various script formats, but the beginning chapters focused on why we write and why we make the stories we do.
It had a section in it describing how human needs and desires are met through fiction. It detailed those needs in a list. This list:
Please draw your attention to the ones on the list that say that fictions helps people to:
Be purged of unpleasant emotions
To have vicarious but controlled emotional experiences
To confront, in a controlled situation, the horrible and terrible
To explore taboo subjects without guilt
Just because you personal donât need various forms of âtabooâ media, doesnât mean that others donât. Media, in all of its forms, is a way for people to explore things safely. Itâs an outlet that doesnât harm anyone and it offers the creator and viewer/reader a safe way of exploring the complexities of situations (or in some cases relationships) that these people do not want to be involved in irl. Because we can distinguish reality from fiction. Because none of us are going out killing people or getting into abusive relationships or fucking our sibling.
While being critical of the media we consume is important and it is vital to dissect the whys of the media being created, there is a line between creating open discussion about these taboos, about the society and personal experiences that makes one need these outlets, and verbally abusing and harassing strangers.
If you want to create a dialogue about media or a ship you donât agree with, fine. Talk about it. Dissect it. Really dig deep into the human condition and the psychology behind these outlets, but donât shame people for them to the point of telling them to kill themselves or telling them they are human garbage or what the fuck ever.
Fiction isnât always meant to be picturesque. Itâs not always going to be SFW. If that isnât your cup of tea, then great. Stop going into the tags of things that make you feel unhealthy. You do you. Keep yourself safe. Stop continuously exposing yourself to content that you canât swallow. To keep getting involved, to keep harassing people, to keep abusing strangers shows that you donât give a damn about the content. You need an excuse to bully someone else and indulge in holier-than-thou circle jerks with other people who also have no sense of what fiction is for.
anon: I have came to a conclusion on what I think about Mary after doing both Damien and Joesphâs routes. I think she was a great person and at one point Mary and Joesph did love each other. They loved each other and their children (fuck you the cult is not cannon). After time the love faded, so Mary drowned herself in wine and Joesph did the same with religion. Sheâs still a good person, she does bad things. All people do, but her biggest flaw is her children. Sheâs should keep up with them too.
